Wow, THANK YOU! Mapping out a game plan, then implementing your ideas and tips will help me conquer the war-zone that is my closet. Thank you, Meg, for your amazing show and stylish aesthetic.

Meg's dress is amazing, the flower precious and sense-of-humor witty. And now my closet will be cleaner. What more could I ask for?

Unfortunately i have no more room even for organizers, since my closet (ignore the fact that my floor is another matter) is fully organized, including pizza boxes (unused) filled with old grade school papers and art. Remember some other ways to freshen up those places would be just putting a bar of soap in a drawer or a clove covered orange!

My closet is always a disaster area. Thanks so much for the helpful and very doable tips! PS. I want to go shopping in your closet!!

  • margaret.em wrote on April 15, 5:45 pm

I actually signed on today because I was hoping to ask that you do an episode on how to make pretty, padded, fabric-covered hangers with something to keep little straps from slipping off. I know you've just covered the closet, but hopefully you'll consider this project anyway?! Please and thanks

    Get a wardrobe?

You can get them used too, off Craig's list or something.
Really old houses, and houses in some countries don't have closets.

  • ES (guest) wrote on April 16, 12:55 am

HEY thanks for the mention! another idea for organization is taking an old shudder and paint it white put hangers/ hooks and then hang it up and fill it with cards or pictures. I have one its so cool because when you get a card just put it in one of the slots and share it with everyone!

  • flygirl711 (guest) wrote on April 16, 12:56 am

eeeeeek! I was trying to figure out how to make a jewelry frame today but didnt know if it's look good!

    oh yippee.

  • Rachel (guest) wrote on April 16, 1:10 am

Also love the doorknobs as hooks - how do you attach them to the wall?

  • Meg wrote in reply on April 16, 10:33 am

So glad you like the idea!

To put doorknobs into the wall:
Put some glue in the back of the doorknob. Before it dries, push a drywall screw (head first) into the glue. Hold it for a few seconds as the glue dries. Then, screw it into the wall. If it resists, then create a little starter hole with your power-drill or a hammer and nails.
Use vintage, re-purposed doorknobs and you have created cool recycled hooks for more storage!

  • atb wrote on April 16, 4:53 pm

so may great ideas...where to begin? the doorknobs are clutch. nice one.

  • Tori (guest) wrote on April 16, 10:25 pm

Its like you knew my closet was falling out of itself. I do have to say, the boxes into cubbies is brilliant and so so easy!! also, I found a good tip when doing closet clean out.. when you are putting it back in, take out 2 or 3 items from each of your piles and donate or make them into something else!! I am a bit of a pack rat, and trimming my crap in small amounts more frequently seems less daunting then all at once. I LOVE DIY!!!

  • Ryley (guest) wrote on April 16, 10:26 pm

I love having a clean closet. I can store my toys and hide there when I have eaten the garbage. Thank you Meg, for helping my mom with her organizationally challenged self.
