great project Meg! do you have ideas on what to do if you have cut your curtain length too short?  (eeeK!) i didn't allot enough fabric for the rod pocket and bottom (double eek!)

Can you please make a video on how to decorate a teens room:)

Oh my gosh...so cute! my problem is i can never stick with what i've already done to my room...i've repainted the whole room twice in like a month..yikes..but anyways..what kind of sewing maching are you using? it's so cute! keep up the awesome stuff! i'll be waiting for new ideas!!! THANKS!

WOW! I did the branch idea a few years ago too.  My dad was gardening one day and cut off a huge branch.  Our 6x4 looked bare and so to spruce it up we made use of the branch.  After spray painting it clear to make it have a nice shine, we hung it up using cute curtain holders (the U looking things to hold the curtain to the side) put up some curtains and it was perfect.  Our room looked more personalized and we got to sleep in longer :)

WOW! I did this at my house a few years ago too!  How exciting.  SO my story was that my dad was doing some gardening and cut off a huge branch from our peach blossom tree.  It was so beautifully knarled and our 6x4 window needed some love that the two had to be integrated together.  We spray painted it clear to give it a nice shine, added some curtains. It not only blocked all sunlight for us to sleep into the day, it gave the room a personal touch.  what was so great about it was the branch looked over to its original tree (the branch can never go home sick).  btw your hair is very cute.  I recently cut my hair short and i love the low maintainance. 

Hey Meg, what breed is your dog? She looks ridiculously similar to my own chihuahua (deer head or part italian greyhound).

Hey that was a fun show. I never thought about the darting. ..i just always go straight across ! this is much more put together and thoughtful. I like it. I'm now finding myself searching the house for things I've made!

Fun! This is an easy tutorial to follow. I JUST wrote about making curtains on my blog, but I have some other windows that need attention.

I found that bamboo works really well for a curtain rod, as well.  It's nice and straight and generally the same diameter all the way along it.

I'm always amazed by the new crafty things you come up with, Meg, that always add a new cozy element to a home! I love how you incorporate items for reuse and their natural look. Terrific when things are divurted from the waste stream. And love the tree branch curtain rod!

I stumbled on this VERY VERY VERY HELPFUL episode and truth be told, am heading out to gather the (cheap!!) supplies to make my own curtains.  I love the format and loved the hostess, Meg.  It was such an quick watch and a great way to lean something I might actually be able to do myself.  I am not a do it yourself type gal...but now I am rethinking that after watching. This is great! That Meg Allan is something else. While I am in to DIY I don't really sew. But this was so enjoyable to watch and seemed so easy I just may give it a try. This is a cute sode and would like to see more ideas with such a spunky, upbeat host!

I love it! I am so happy to see ThreadBangers expanding from Clothing to Decorating. Great first episode and I hope it becomes more and more regular. 

really cute clip.  i like that she has balanced being cutsy and fun with practical, easy-to-follow steps that make this project (which could feel potentially time-consuming) a painless, fun one.  (i also appreciate that she makes quick work of the sewing, so that those of us who sew regularly don't have to wade through the basics...)

i also love the fabric she picked out - the color combo is fantastic. i've never used that fabric website, but i promise you i will now!

as far as a wooden dowel vs a natural branch... it all depends on the feel of the room, i think. there is definitely a trend in the indie/DIY design towards natural pieces that help marry homemade items and commercial ones. 

Her website NEST also seems superinclusive of the green movement and recycling, reusing, and reducing waste in a creative way. Bravo!

A+ work all around! really dig the patterns and the end result is stunning.

Great tips, totally do-able (and I'm a guy, so...). Plus the hostess is super adorable.  Thought it was awesome and I ran smiling to go put curtains up.  Meg, you rock out with certain parts out!

I don'y know about the branch.... all the ones i find are so water logged fromthe snow they would snap as soon as they're dry. It's a nice idea but I would probably use a wooden dowel and give it a funky coat of paint.
