DIY Aprons - Decor It Yourself

I want to make a cute and super frilly apron that's see though like the one you had in the beginning of the video for a friend of mine. Her birthday's coming in a few months, but I want to make it the best as i can before then.

Can't you make an appron like the one your wearing in the beginning?

Using a top stitch to machine appliqué means that the outer edges will fray. If that's the look you want, awesome, but if you would like your appliqués to have clean lines even after a couple of washings (and aprons get dirty quick) I would suggest using a small zig-zag stitch, making sure to run right along the edges of the appliqué.

Wow! This episode came out just in time for me. I had a pair of jean that were torn up in all the right places that my mom just let me cut and sew them for whatever.

another tip for anyone sewing anything...iron your seams!  It really helps make the finished project look professional rather than handmade.

Awesome idea but I already made a jean apron a few months ago and just so happended that i posted a tread about it and THEN found out it was on the contest list. oh well. I love you mismatched dishes and cups.

Mint ice cubes!!  I would never have come up with that on my own!  Great idea.  And if you're like me in the kitchen you can never have too many aprons.  I'm excited to try and make my own!

Oh crap, I forgot what the contest was! What do you have to make to enter? ): 

OMG! Finally someone who makes lined fabric the same way I do (sewing around three sides, turning inside out and tucking the final end). So many people asked me how to do it and it's so hard to explain in writing XD 

I like the jean apron but I want something that goes around my waist a bit more. *keeps watching* 

Thanks guys! And yes, you can wash felt. I thought you couldn't so tried it out myself. I made a dishcloth with a felt cupcake applique` and have now washed it several times with no problem. Great question Rachel!

Thanks for the apron tip!  I mentioned making one of these for my mom, but never got around to it.  But now you've given me some great ideas, and the appliques are so cute!

We change our centerpieces on coffee tables and in the kitchen all the time, so I'll have to do some digging and send in some pictures.  Thanks for another great ep!
