Upcycled Pendant Lamp, Earth Day, Decor It Yourself

i used this as a chandlier and it turnd out great!!!

there's an abandoned gas station down the street that I'm going to go figure out how to remove/get fixed up now. :D We get all kinds of broken glass, and people leave their druggie stuff there.... not to mention it looks so trashy. go me!

I would love to make that 1 question though where did you find a bunch of spoons I understand using some nice medal pieces but why would someone throw out spoons

I love lamp projects, but, the previous comment about safety was correct. Suspend the lamp by a chain and weave the wire through the links. This should make an awesome project much safer!

Love the cool things you make here...BUT  the way the electrical cord was looped and used for hanging the lamp just screams out UNSAFE- I was a firefighter- looping electric cords stress them and can cause cracking in the insulation and a possible fire danger.  *PLEASE reconsider this design! *

As another thought, instead of buying a "new" light socket and cord, you could use the same parts out of a broken lamp (as long as the wiring is still in good, working order) Most of the time, you can just help the "breaking" along and the wiring comes right out. For that matter, if you have a pair of broken lamps, you could use the wiring out of the second (maybe non functioning) one to use in place if the "new" thin wire.

Wouldn't an old wire coat hanger work in place of the "new" wire used to form the shape of the lamp? You can get those from just about anywhere and usually for free.  :o)

AWESOME episode! Gracie is really taking her acting up a notch. and I love the pendant lamp with the tin letters...SO TIGHT!!!

I think I recognize one of those spoon patterns!  You could line the lamp shade with a "green" material and swap it out periodically for different colors to suit your mood or the season. Very inventive project!  I also like the matching clean up jackets.

I'm doing a trash pickup in my area on Earth day with some people! One tip I'd give for this is DON'T TOUCH NEEDLES or anything else that could be harmful. Needles and other medical trash can't be disposed with regular garbage anyway, and they can be seriously dangerous.

When I'm able to move into a house, I totally want to get solar panels.

MY GREEN TIP: Do a clothing swap with friends! Get together all your clothes and accessories you don't wear for whatever reason. Get some friends together, spread everything out and pick around to find items you like (either to wear, or to make into something new!). Then donate the rest to a thrift store or charity! Saves you and your friends money, and thrifting is always green because you aren't having anything new shipped overseas, and avoid all the paper/plastic waste that comes with that.

Those lanterns are incredibly cool. I never knew you could use wind energy, that is awesome.

I can't believe Earth day is coming up so soon. I used to plant trees with my dad as a kid on Earth day but stopped when I got older. Now I kinda forgot when Earth day is if no one talks about it. I really hate it when other people throw trash on the ground, especially when there's plenty of trash cans around.
