the dish looks delish and super easy. i would recomend that you make a slurry with the cornstarch. reserve some of the cold liquid or add it to the sherry and then add it to the boiling liquid. this gives you better control of the consistency and avoids lumps.

I missed you, Meg! Thank G*d I follow your tweets (hint, hint) or I wouldn't have caught this... This will be long, as I have props for the show AND suggestions to all the people below... Props be to Meg, for her vintage cookware (seen, but not used too much in the episodes, for this is DIY,not Food Network). Love the burlap and lace, and the THANKFUL... I know it'd be brown on brown, but I would have loved to see your alphabet blocks again, as metal cookie cutters easily warp out of shape, should you have a stubborn cookie dough. Loved Milo and Gracie, as always ["Food...Pie" :)]. Also loved your tree idea; would also work great for Christmas (abstract thoughts- world peace, and guests can help to make that happen). I was thinking my guests could bring photos of themselves to the feast, which would go into one of those giant frames that holds 15 pictures, above which reads "What We Are Thankful For". I do have some (more) ideas. On a food network program a restaurant was featured where they served turkey 365. They prepped their turkeys and stuffed them in the oven before closing the store for the night. I'm sure you could do ham the same way, and nothing would be better than waking up to ham in the morning, throwing in some buscuits, and serving up breakfast, meat and starch style. Cut and freeze veggies a week before cooking. Have friends bring sides to cut your cooking, and put them to work after dinner. Play short games, so where the loser has to wash "x" dish items, and keep playing so all the dishes are done [Wii is good for this, and calorie burning. you can just play the game that comes with it ;)] ...and finally...mini-crock pot ideas: -fondue (using leftover turkey and veggies) -pot pies -creme brulee -pumpkin souffle -mini pumpkin bread/ muffins? -cran-apple crumble Let me know what you think, guys. So glad you're back Meg, I literally checked the page three times while everyone was on vaca and yelled at myself for forgetting, I hope you had a good time off, like the episode, good crossover with WCF!!!

with 4 kids and a husband and usually a few single Military Personnel in the house, I like to cheat and cook my turkey (the most time consuming thing too cook) the day before then carve it up and lay it out in the same baking dish with just a few ladles of the pan juices to keep it moist, wrap TIGHTLY in foil/plastic then you can just reheat it the next day while your other dishes are taking turns in the oven. Also we LOVE roasted veg in our house my kids fav combo is Broccoli, Bell Peppers (red/orange/yellow), Tomatoes, Zucchini, Red Onion, Carrots (the younger/thinner the better), just chop into bit size bits, toss with olive oil/salt/pepper and roast like ya'll did. Also we LOVE Pumpkin Dump Cake (it's EASY and feeds a TON of ppl) 1 large can of pumpkin pie mix, 2 cans condensed milk, 2 yellow cake mixes (and the eggs, oil, etc on the back of the cake mixes), and 2 sticks of melted butter : combine all the wet ingredients except for the melter butter (I do this in the 13x9 pan I'm going to bake in) , sprinkle on the dry cake mixes (some patting is necessary, but DO NOT stir) then drizzle on the melted butter. bake at 350 till it's a medium golden brown. this is a nice in between Cake and Custard texture. MMM now I'm hungry. Great Episode Meg!! and the burlap was GENIUS!!

One suggestion I have to make your Thanksgiving day go smoothly, is to remember to schedule in a minute for yourself. Sounds silly, but last year I had the entire day perfectly mapped out and planned to a tee, OCD-style. The one thing I forgot to include was my time-slot to shower. I scrambled around to get it all done in time, which was not enjoyable. This year, hopefully I won't forget to schedule to bathe:)
