Not all of us have stylists or the ability to rent frocks and kicks from the fanciest designers. So until we do, this is how we fake it. To rock the red carpet DIY-style for the Bride Wars premiere last Tuesday, I gathered some of my favorite classic pieces to choose the right ensemble.

It was actually a blue carpet, due to the entire evening being hosted by Tiffany's. This made me want to go down a more Audrey-road, and go with a cocktail dress. The black cocktail dress was a thrift find that was under $20. The hem-line was awkward, so I altered it to hit me above the knee.

The bold gold cuff and bauble necklace were my Nana's, the patent leather t-straps were the shoes I wore to my rehearsal dinner and were found at (gasp!) Filene's, and the orange mod cropped pea coat was a steal at Forever XXI.

I felt good, was comfortable all evening, and didn't have to purchase one new piece for the DIY red carpet event. What are some of your tried and true red carpet-worthy DIY outfits?

That is so cute! I'm working on my style since I spend most of my time in t-shirt and undies. (next year I have to year clothes)
