Spring Cleaning, Decor It Yourself

i have a huge problem with getting things organized. i need a way to store things in a small space(aka my room) without creating clutter

i was wondering if you guys could make a video on how to organize a small space, see i'm going to start college soon and i have a lot of stuff that i don't use as much as i used to but as even when i clean it seems like my room stays the same. So please, can you help me orginize my VERY SMALL room so my mom won't yell at me anymore?

You guys should do a video on recycled bookshelves. That would be amazing; im getting so unorganized! Great cleaning supplies. would it effect them if i put a couple of drops of my favorite essential oils? you know, to make it more scent-friendly?

This was a FABulous show! I have been looking for recipes like this, and here they all are in one place! I have one question though. I'm a bit concerned that my apartment is going to start smelling like vinegar all the time. Would you recommend adding a few drops of essential oil in lavender or lemon or something? Or would that take away from the effectiveness of the final product?

I think the quick tips with each episode are great! But you left several out this time --- When rooting your plant cuttings how did you change the glass into a vintage milk bottle? I would like to do that!!! And how do you make that little dog dance?

I love the cleaner idea! My cat runs and hides when we break out the chemical cleaner and she can't even walk on the hard floors after we clean them until the smell is gone.

I just found you guys on itunes and have fallen in love. I'm new to the DIY scene and have some dilemas that I hope you could help with. I have quite a few purses and right now they are shoved in a box in my closet where I can never see or use them. I need a way to effectivly and creativly display my purse collection. Thank you

Although I hate cleaning (hate is a strong word, not nice and organic) I may have to whip some of these up before the cleaning lady comes again. She always makes our house smell like bleach and that worries me. As for the color coordinating your bookshelf, that's fantastic! I'm going to do it with my parents books first. Teehee. Thanks!

I love the home cleaner Idea, especially the scrubber solution. We've always used watered down vinegar for our windows rather than chemicals, especially beause my cat likes to lick off the condensation in the winter. (though that doesn't stop her from licking the Murphys soap-water off the clean floor). By the way, would the salt/vinegar scrub affects metal surfaces of not rised properly? (thinking salt+metal=rust)

Yay! No more chemicals! Seventh Generation = outside grad student budget vinegar = inside budget (in fact, already inside my kitchen cabinet) Does anyone know about making things like green laundry detergent? That might be more complicated, though.

There you go again!Great show.I already do alot of these cleaners. But I do want to ask though. I am a germ freak,I clean all the time. What about getting rid of them. Something strong,that will kills stuff in the bathrooom mostly. I have boys.....

Okay, I already did my books the way Meg did and they look SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!

Just to let you know, that to properly root a plant put a perlite in your container of water to substitute as soil as the roots are forming. This will insure that the roots will form properly for transplanting into soil. Perlite is a natural volcanic rock product found in any garden center. Jana

Thank you so much for this episode, Meg! I didn't know this could be done, really. Now, all I need to do is to find out if some of the stuff you mentioned exists in my country. I do have a nest dilaema (sort of). I've recently begun painting with acrylics and oil and now I struggle with finding a way to get rid of the solvents I clean my brushes with (acetone and turpentine are the ones I use most). Pouring that stuff down the drain is out of the question, so I gather the waste in a big jug that I keep sealed in my own attic. The problem is I'm almost filling it up and I'm not quite interested in starting up a collection of solvent jugs. Thanks for everything.

I LOVED this episode. I have gotten my family into green cleaning and am trying to pull my friends more into it... maybe they will be more open when they realize it's not only good for the enviroment... and you... its economical. You can get a huge thing of vinegar for less than the price of many home cleaners. Just have to deal with that Easter egg smell :)

I love the color-coded bookshelf idea. I second the person who asked about DIY bookshelves. My girlfriend and I are planning on modifying an old 70s entertainment center to turn it into bookshelves, but I'd be interested to see what other people are doing, too. I'll videotape our project and let the threadbanger community know about it when I do.

I love it! What a genius idea! It never even occured to me to make my own cleaning supplies. I know that over usage of anti-bacterial cleaners pose serious risks for us as our society grows and we become more immune to them, so finding out that there is a simple, cost effective and GREEN way to make my apartment clean and fresh is absolutely fantastic! On another note, I actually laughed out loud like a girl when I saw the Gracie dancing clip. Workout Dallas. Word.
