Hey what if you have a cork board and you want to make your own push.pins for it...what would you use for the sharp end?!

  • ink_bottle wrote in reply on April 29, 1:48 pm

I would reccomend just buying some plain thumb tacks from the dollar store and jazzing them up with paint or maybe some fimo/sculpy creations or buttons. sewing pins even work too if thery're heavy duty. As for some alternatives.... maybe cut up paper clips?

  • ink_bottle wrote on April 29, 1:52 pm

Wow, your room is really small, but then again you're in a tiny apartment with a double bed. Good work with the decor! My main decor challenge is I have a border wallpaper that goes straight through my room horizontally. It's been there for at least 10 years but i fear removing it if possible) will damage my walls. Any suggestions?

Hardback books as end tables is so cool, and the new headboard is beautiful yet so reasonably priced and easy-to-do. Great vision, Meg.

I am a college student looking to add some of my own style to my bed room in my apartment but I can't paint the walls or pot any nails in the walls so what do I do pleas help me. Ps: it would allso help my friends that live in college dorm rooms.

  • chpest (guest) wrote in reply on April 30, 7:07 pm

There are a lot of different ways to spruce up college bedrooms. I personally love using adhesive hooks to hang up just about everything I could ever need on walls. I posted something (http://rootless-sand.deadjournal.com/8133.html) about hanging up a small birdcage-like jewelry hanger using adhesive hooks and string. You could also put one adhesive hook on one end of the wall and another on the other end, and tie a piece of sturdy string between the two, then hang photographs or a calendar or sunglasses or anything else that strikes your fancy. If you're worried about how much weight it will hold, you can just place more adhesive strips along the length of the string and tie the string to them at regular intervals. You could also use this method to hang up a huge piece of cloth, like a tapestry, either along the wall or around your bed as curtains for some extra privacy. For some quality time with your roommate, you could post up a huge piece of paper on the wall using adhesive strips and just let your creativity go wild on it--draw cool designs with colored pencils, crayons, pens, sharpies, make collages from magazines or even old homework assignments (with phrases scribbled across them describing how you REALLY felt about the Boer War), or post up inspiration sayings and quotes.

Thank you so much for all of this helpful info, chpest! I love the birdcage-like jewelry hanger idea. I'd love to see that.

fantabulous episode, and kudos with the addition of the John Lennon and Yoko Ono pictures. I really need to change up me room. My walls are painted brown (supposed to look like egypt...) and my carpet is green! Its too darn confusing. I wish I could easily paint my room yellow.. If only it were that easy.

  • Barret wrote on April 30, 11:55 am

Love it again! I will ONLY be buying Eco-Paint from now on. Get ready for my new bedroom!!!

  • Peach (guest) wrote on April 30, 5:57 pm

Wow, love the episode. I keep wanting to redo my bedroom and I love your head board idea - it looks great, doesn't take up too much room and is easy on your wallet. I also love the color you guys decided to paint your room- it's a good neutral color (with being so beige) it's a great color for a couple, not too girly and not too manly. i love it! can't wait to see next week!!

  • inkedchick wrote on April 30, 9:18 pm

wow eco-paint ....I have never heard of it.

  • creative_license wrote on April 30, 11:43 pm

  • cassyjo (guest) wrote on May 2, 3:26 pm

Awesome show! Do you have any ideas for making a cheap desk? I need a lot of drawers and storage space. I thought about using two of those plastic drawer things but what could I use for a desktop?

  • Weker1 wrote on May 2, 5:53 pm

You should do tip's for people who rent or for other reasons can paint there rooms.
One Method is to use Posterbord or card bord and set them up say to look like a city sky line and place it along your wall, easily removed and won't loose you deposit.
also I use those paper sleeves that DVd's some times have and I have taped them along my wall.
it makes a neat line up of the films I like and it draws attention from the blank walls.

  • tomothecat wrote on May 4, 9:01 am

Could you show us how to make, or where to buy, some eco-friendly nailpolish? The smell of regular nail polish is really harsh.

  • Anne (guest) wrote on May 4, 5:25 pm

I loved the color... But I can't paint my walls because I have a fake wood paneling... so is there a way to dress it up without the paint?

  • SANDY (guest) wrote on May 8, 9:30 pm

i THINK THIS IS A VERY HELPFUL IDEA FOR SAVING MONEY.

  • atb wrote on May 9, 5:48 pm
