The dress is really cool, but I think the bodess needs to be a darker color. The bright purple is very bright and fun, but the rest of the outfit is very dark. Maybe if the bodess was one shade darker it would be perfect. :)
i just decide to make a costume, wanted some objective criticism before halloween and posted to my blog at

tell me what you think:)

I frequent thift shops, but I never would have thought to dye as wedding petticoat what a great idea. I love the dress and I agree there should be more costume episodes. I do sew myself, but I am always trying to find shortcuts to great victorian style dresses. I just love your idea for the dress. I think I will try it.
Hey there, I just joined this site and watched most of the videos, I love them. This episode, though, is my favorite so far, I love the costume at the end, it was so pretty. I'm really into victorian type clothing and was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to make a corset or something resembling one. :)
Hey! I just listed a red stiped bustle dress, Ms. Lovett style dress , order yours before there gone, check it out at: ole_tyme_costumes Or email me at oletymecostumes@comcast.net
Hey guys proms is coming up and all the prom dresses that I've looked at are expensive and they all look the same. Got any ideas for a unique, stylin prom dress?
BY FAR my favorite episode you've ever done. I LOVE Colleen Atwood's work!!!!! I also love both of the DIY projects and can't wait to try them out but I'm absolutely in love with the victorian inspired corset gown. I never thought about using one of those hideous bridal petty's in such a creative way. That is one killer outfit!!!! Please, Please, Please do more episodes like this one!!!
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, and ThreadBanger is helping us, as consumers. I figured that ThreadBanger is a way to help a great deal with recycling and keeping this earth safe.
I wanted to pass on a link I found from some friends on my Facebook page with an fun little video you should think about linking or playing a part of in your next video.
http://www.storyofstuff.com/
It's a 20 minutes flash video about how the world is suffering from us as people - not only as consumers.
Hope you had a great Holiday and I look forward to some new how-tos!
Don't you just love Johnny, I thought the costumes were amazing especially the glance at that pink striped suit. where could I find out how to sew properly if by chance you don't have a grandparent to teach you.
AWESOME!!! Your SWEENEY TODD inspired episode just sold 2 more tickets to go see the film. I wasnt so sure what to expect, but your clips and interview w/ Colleen has swayed me to go check it out. Thanks Threadheads!!! -Steve
I can imagine there are some people out there saying that Threadheads sold themselves out by getting sponsorship from a major motion picture, but who cares! It's awesome and you guys are getting yourselves known EVERYWHERE! Good job! Especially since the show is barely a year old!!
omg!!!!!!!! that was so awesome! best episode ever!! you two sould make a weekly episode on costuming! that would be the best because i love acting and dressing up so the more the BETTER!!!!!!!! oh, and merry christmas!!!!!
I appreciated the clips with Tim Burton.
This woman is amazing. Mrs. Atwood is super. So I saw the movie yesterday (the opening) and it was wonderful. Helena's dresses were beautivful.
I cannot begin to express my ecstasy about this show. I want to be a professional costume designer, and I need all the advice I can get! Anyone know about other resources for that kind of stuff?

It would be great if you guys could find something to do with old towels. I have enough towels to....uh....I can't think of anything to compare it to XD
Can you knit? If you can, get the biggest, chunkiest needles you can get your hands on, and cut the towels into inch wide strips. Sew the strips together at the ends, knit them into mats for the bathroom floor!
or you can do the same but crochet it into a bag or something. or if you want to get really fancy turnsome good looking ones into a robe or toiletry caddy thing.
I loved this episode! NeoVictorian and Steampunk is my favorite style! I just wish that my sewing machine can do hems like that, but it can only do one stitch (cause my machine itself is practically victorian!)
I love you guys! Interviewing the designer for sweeny todd? more like swoony todd *thanks*
Historic Costumes are my thing and Jonny Depp is gorgeous briliant, so yeah.. this was deffinatly a good episode.
The interview was GREAT. Where do you guys get these connections? I've interviewed some folks at museums before but I wouldn't know were to go to look for an email adress or something for a hollywood designer.

This week, in celebration of Tim Burtons new movie Sweeney Todd, Thread Heads hangs out with the Oscar award winning costume designer, Colleen Atwood. Plus we turn some neighborhood thrift store finds into some Sweeney Todd inspired victorian trash outfits. This is one episode you wont want to miss.
The dress is really cool, but I think the bodess needs to be a darker color. The bright purple is very bright and fun, but the rest of the outfit is very dark. Maybe if the bodess was one shade darker it would be perfect. :)

I love your site! Thanks for featuring Colleen Atwood, very informative. You guys are great.
It would be great if you guys could find something to do with old towels. I have enough towels to....uh....I can't think of anything to compare it to XD
why not making an old towel into an apron? all you need is a needle, some tread and ribbon! it's easy ive done it plenty of times.
Can you knit? If you can, get the biggest, chunkiest needles you can get your hands on, and cut the towels into inch wide strips. Sew the strips together at the ends, knit them into mats for the bathroom floor!
or you can do the same but crochet it into a bag or something. or if you want to get really fancy turnsome good looking ones into a robe or toiletry caddy thing.
loved it XD

Sadly, Elfman wasn't on this one. :( But it was still awesome.
