Hey! Awesome idea with the brimmed beanie, I'm totally gonna give it a try. except its gonna be a quest hand sewing through the thicker fabric.
Speaking of thicker fabric, you guys keep talking about using an old sweater. I dont really have that kinda thing happenin' at my house, i only have a zip up sweater [which i still use], so I'm wondering if the sweater you use was what type of fabric? Might sound kinda odd, but its like the same type of fabric used in most beanies I'm guessing?

Pop on over to the Goodwill store! They have a ton of old sweaters for way cheap. Or at least find another type of vintage store that has a quirky selection of knits...
something i did with my jeans by experimenting was doing the coffee stain, then cutting tiny holes and taking away the blue and leaving the white. and tyeing a variety of colored ribbons on so the go with everything(changing them out) and i have this belt that tore but still fits. and i found some old bottle caps and pressed them on. I also got a plane white T and bought black paint and bought a cool stencil and carefully painted in the lines while stencil was taped on T. and Voila. cute design T. with cool belt. and trippy Jeans. now all i need are a pair of old converse and BAMN! :D
Cool, I think I know what I'm making my fiance for his birthday. He LOVES beanies, and baseball caps but refuses to buy those over priced capped beanies. Awesome!
Okay, I know this was the 'guys episode' (yay! shout out to all the DIY guys out there!) but this was an answer to a prayer. Cause I wanted to make a brimmed beanie hat ever since I saw one on an episode of Sex and the City. I just have to figure out how to make one that's a little fuller at the bottom like I saw on the show. Any tips?
new to the site but not to sewing, love all the ideas especially when i see some i made years ago. How about ideas for larger women? Keep them coming! sewing rules!
Dude- I've been trying to figure out how to do this for AGES. My friend has this really awesome beanie and I wanted to make one for myself, but I wasn't sure how to make the brim work.
Great tip for waterproofing the hat brim. My husband sews loads of hats (he bought a Japanese hatmaking book and the rest is history), and here in Portland, the brims getting wet can be an issue. Thanks!
As a creative problem solver (aka artist/crafter) since birth, I was overwhelmed with joy when I stumbled across Threadbanger! I am hooked now. I love you guys! Keep up the awesome work! I love those beanies too! I'm going to make some for a couple of the guys in my life. ^_^
Great episode, you guys! Everyone is always complimenting Rob's hats and attire, it's about time we figure out how to do it ourselves.
You guys kick ass!
wow this beanie hat is totaly awesome. Do u have any advice how to cut up the ex boyfriends ts into totaly cute shirts? I dont think he'd mind after all we still talk and he says its okay.
I am losing weight and have to go to thrift stores to buy clothes once a month i keep having to buy new skirts-i hate to give up some of my favorites- so how can i take them in to fit better in the mean time?

Another use for Duct tape, good job. I think plastic containers, like butter tubs would work to. Somebody try it and let us know.
Yay for bikhoodie! And meander's flowers!
The intro animation for the forums segment still cracks me up! X-D I think it's the sound effects.
Show Note:
The Half Hoodie was made by Glitterimage2...not Michelle.
