Threadbanger: How To Make a Loom , How To Make a Scarf

I made a kickass scarf however I used stockings and mens shirts and it freaken rocked socks!!!! Literally!!!

not a good idea...the scarf made with anything which is not silk will be stiff and unpleasant to wear :(

This is great, my niece has been wanting me to help her "make something" for her grandma's b-day coming up. She's 10 and I think this is a super project to get her into fabric arts,(since she spend "sew much time" in my sewing room anyway.

thats cool! i need a new scarf so I'm going to make one. i don't think I'd do such random pieces of fabric.

I don't have any silk...but I have a ton of clothes that are way to big for me now that I can snip up! *Runs off with large pile of t-shirts and scissors*

awesome!! i've always loved watching people work the looms in "old fashioned" village/farm demos. i think i'll make a nice big loom and weave myself a bath mat out of cotton scraps. or a little rug for the kitchen. or next to my bed. or some coasters. or a slightly less bulky scarf than hers (thineed scrap strips i think would work for that). very very very inspiring. thanks guys!! and girls!

Crud, now I have to start a silk prject with enough leftovers for the scarf. I buy it in lots of white and dye them in the washer. I love the chiffon she put in there. The bead...not so much.

Darn you. Just when I declared it project finishing month because I'm way behind you come up with a loom I have to make right now! But it will have to wait. I'm so conflicted. Haha.

i like the idea of it. but im not sure i like it itself. maybe like with string. BUT i did like the tshirt scarf idea, very resourceful

So, you know how in cartoons, when a charecter gets an idea to make something, and they quck run away and all you hear is hammering and nails and power tools being used? That's pretty much what it was like after I watched this. I'm making a belt out of black satin and red and black woven satin. If you keep pushing your fabric up on the loom really tight, It really puckers and has the look of rouching. It's really cool.

I own a couple looms and have been know to weave some electrifing fabric so I have an overly critical eye on this presentation. What bobbi has done is fantabulous! It opens the door to weaving, uses up scraps and looks groovalicious! But lord that's downright primitive weaving! Probably why everyone loves it. Keep warm you two - bet your wishing for the FL beaches right about now. Yeah...but wait till late January! Brrrrrrr. Get some gloves girl!
