How-to Make Obama Inauguration Gear, Threadbanger

I tried shrinking a name to make a necklace, but the pattern is slightly intricate. It started curling up too much and did not straighten back at all and when I tried to stretch it it broke.. :( How do I shrink it without it curling up too much?

omg this is sooo neat! i love the necklace you made!! i have a really big question though.. doesn't heating up plastic release harmful chemicals and toxins? it really scares me that you did that in an oven you can eat from. i'm guessing shrinky dinks probably are specially made to not mess things up, but number 6 plastic? i'm weary on recycling if it will hurt me! if not though, that is the coolest thing i've ever seen!!

i never knew #6 plastic could be used for shrinky dinks! we use it all the time... i cold totally us the second r in rrr :) (reduce reuse recycle)

Crisp packets also make really cool earrings. after a binge, lay the two packets flat and bake just like Corinne did. the packets do need watching and fly in a fan oven (beware!) also, they give a cool crinkley effect instead of a flat finish. punch holes (you need strength and a very good hole punch) and attach to earring clasps! voila! crisp packet earrings! xx

Help Rob and Corrine, I reacently found out about a baby shower this week and it's on Febuary 1st. They don't know whether it's a boy or a girl and I don't know what to give the mom.

I like the obama earrings so where else can you find number 6 plastic at?

Pretty sweet - love the Obama Gurl shrinky dink. This is a cool episode because the techniques can be applied to lots of different projects - not just Obama gear.

what's the big deal about Obama? All his proposals seem really socialist to me and won't help in the long run.
