if anyone lives in or near Toronto, Ontario (Canada) there's a school and art supply store chain called Midoco that is pretty awesome and sells a whole bunch of eco-friendly stuff!

O.P.P. stands for other people's paper

Don't forget to take inventory of all your supplies left over from previous years before buying more. You'd be suprised by the number of pencils and erasers I've found after cleaning the house. So reuse what you got first.

i agree with ink_bottle, after a recent move i discovered that i have a gillion pens and pencils lying around the house, so i don't think i'm going to need any for a while.

i think i might also make a notebook out of various sheets of mismatched notebook paper. i'll post as soon as i'm done with it.

      For all the do-it-yourself types:

      www.diyplanner.com

You can download their planner templates for free and print your own customized planner on recycled paper. Only print what you need and use.

      The site rocks!

For all you Australian kiddies, try www.biome.com.au. They've got recycled paper pencils, notebooks whose covers are made from old tyres, staple-less staplers, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Their store is just down to road from my work, and it is the bane of my existence on payday.

Target is going green with many of their school supplies.
And for clothing, shopping second-hand is so much more fun at consignment stores, like Plato's Closet, or if you live in Tacoma WA, Junior Bizzare has awsome retro clothing for just $6!

Staples now has notebooks made out of recycled material and sugarcane paper. The composition notebooks are like a dollar each!

    • Nicole (guest) wrote on August 21, 4:15 pm

i know target has recycled binders and i think they also have notebooks. :)

Thanks so much! I am going out shopping this weekend for b.t.s. supplies, and I know know what to look for. Love the show.

if your looking for some good smelling earth friendly pencils you could also check out these pencils called smencils there made out of recylceled newspaper and come in a variety of scents, bubble gum, root beer, etc

    • BrokenJoker (guest) wrote on August 25, 10:40 pm

As great as smencils smell, it's a little contradicting that each pencil comes in it's own little plastic tube...
