  • Pea wrote on December 12, 9:53 pm

Hey guys, I love that idea!

But, I have a question. I was looking at some scarfs at supermaggie.com, and they said something about felting. What is it, and is it hard? Because their scarves were tight.

Also, could you explain sewing machines? I have one, but it's ancient and it is missing a needle, and I can't figure out how to work it. Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know where else to post the questions..

  • Holly wrote in reply on December 14, 5:09 pm

Felting is when you have something knitted made out of wool, and you wash it in hot water and stuff and it shrinks. Search for it on yahoo.

  • ladyjanewriter wrote in reply on December 14, 5:36 pm

You can felt stuff in the washing machine on hot with just a really small amount of laundry soap. I've done it with thrifted sweaters and it works great! They can't be worn as sweaters anymore, but now I can cut them up and make stuff. Good question.

  • capitalistdegrande wrote on December 12, 10:26 pm

you can make awesome wrapping paper with:
    1. grease proof wax baking paper
    2. anything you want, flower petals, leaves, small scraps of material
    3. your iron
just put one sheet wax side up, add your filling and place sheet wax face down, now just iron.
the wax will fuse and the stuff in side will show through, it looks really cool, can you guys put this on the show PLEASE!!

  • SoupyGeorge wrote on December 12, 10:51 pm

Okay, dumb question - with the new look of the forums I can't figure out how to sign in!!!! How do I sign in? I can see the register link for new members but I can't find the log in link... =( I know this is the wrong place for this question but I don't know where else to put it...

  • ladyjane wrote in reply on December 13, 11:26 am

YAY! Mittens! I'm very thankful for the hat idea though. I cut the sleeves off a sweater for leg warmers, and couldn't figure out what to do with the rest. Though I would like to make a vest. Is that really hard?

Also, I love the pink sewing machine, the tie cuff, and the adorable chihuahua at the end!

  • Meg wrote on December 13, 2:22 pm

Woah, who knew the rapping would get such a response?!
    Never stop rapping. Ever.
Please don't steal my sewing machine. But you can totally come over and use it with us.
    Mad props, dudes.

Sweetness! I've been looking for mitten patterns...but keep running into nasty words like 'gusset' and 'fourchette" which serve to cockblock a craftee and intimidate an amateur! Thanks so much for not getting psychological on me!
