Reading through the posts it seems like there was a lot of confusion, regarding a video we couldn't even get anything out of. It would have been better if they would have been up front and told us where we could find places like this and how to go about getting the ok to go in and get the stuff. That would have been helpful. This video?...well beside a couple of people wanting to make a batman belt from stuff they can't get a hold of, it wasn't helpful.

that's really cool to be able to raid old places like that. the only dumpster I'm allowed to dive is the JoAnne's dumpster and the winter weather has caused some issues with that practice.

Dear Upcyclests, We will be posting this on Craigs List very soon, I promise. I feel like I have to level with everybody, a lot of stuff was covered in pigeon shit, and lots of it fell apart and we had to throw it away. Sadly we only got two van fulls, But whats left we will be posting on craigslist, some for free (984 studded bracelets and belts) so you can get all those for 2o bones Some for very cheap and the cost of shipping. We dont have endless space to store all this, but we are working on a system to temporarily keep it and make it available. We really want to give it back to the people, its just taking some planning. It's great that they got permission and all, but you should say that up front - I don't think we want the news blaming a series of petty theft arrests on Threadbanger! And until I read that they did get permission, I was actually pretty pissed off. Plus, I really don't like RHLS, the obnoxious glasses and candy coating of pretentious and are a little squiggy to me.

I love that they were able to save all those items from the nuisance ground. I would love to see the vinyl strips woven and made into a large bag or funky coat. Please show us what you come up with!

That's so sweet! My friends found a dumpster full of buttons and other strange stuff here in Portland, OR, I now have more buttons than I will probably ever need. Vive la dumpster! If anyone's in Portland, I recommend checking out SCRAP (www.scrapaction.org). They sell awesome cast-off and reused materials for wicked cheap.

Now don't get me wrong. I think that recycling is hella cool, and good for you guys in not letting shit like that go to waste and being resourceful with people's forgotten stuff. One question, though: isn't that technically called theft? Not trying to start anything, just curious.

I find dumpsters by walking the alleys of the town I live in, and also by drive-by observation like Snotty. I just peak in to to see what the container holds. If there are treasures--I'm IN. I built all of my furniture with found wood. If halted by a dumpster/guardian/nazi I always say I am TAKING, not adding. Critical to conflict avoidance.

When you are ready to re-sell the raw materials will you please post the info on our dear threadbangers.com website. I would be available for a bag, sold by weight, of any selection of the stuff--ANY SELECTION of the STUFF. I could hyperventilate at the sight of such a find. GOOD JOB.
