How to Thread Your Needle - Threadbanger

hello?! what about the good ol' threaders? works too! lol. or there's the yarn needle trick, fold the thread/yarn around the needle, pinch it hard (to make it "flat") and slide the needle over the "pointed" edge of the folded thread/yarn and ta-da! all done!

Best trick I ever learned for threading a needle, is to fold the thread, pinch between thumb and finger,and slide needle over the pinched thread while slowly opening finger and thumb. Works like a charm, never fails.

What about knot tying? My old boss at the tailor shop used to tie one by wrapping the thread around her finger a few times and then sliding it off the end and somehow it ended up in a knot, I never figured it out, can you guys show us?

Rob you forgot one of those old threading tools. I know my grandmother has one, maybe yours does too.

I love the quickies!! real useful tips.But is Decor it yourself gone for good?Sobbbbsniff id like some "quickies" on sewing on Velcro.I always have trouble with this and my needle breaks:)

I like the quickie concept. There are so many tips out there to share to make sewing more easy and enjoyable. There are threaders for needles too and if you wax your whole thread it makes it stronger and won't get tangled when sewing by hand.

What about the needle threader? It is a metal wire loop that you can stick into the needle and put the thread though and pull. Or you can make a loop out of any string that is stiff enough. Real cute video :D

props to you Rob for use of the phrase, 'Shameless plug'. Here's a quickie tip for a future Quickie episode. Buy sewing machine oil for your sewing machine. Keeping your sewing machine lubed up will spare one hours of grief from messed up stitches and a ongoing love affair with one's seam ripper. I know of which I speak. And machine oil is like only, 2 or 3 dollars retail. Definally(sp?) bang for the buck.

you should really try wetting the whole of the needle instead of your tread. It goes right in no fuss.

What about using the needle threading tool that comes with a lot of sewing kits? Its a very thin wire that works like the paper trick, except it has a handle and you can use it indefinitely? I thread my needles with that all the time. Liked the quickie, can't wait to see more of them.
