Weekly DIY Roundup: Games!
I don't know about you and your families, but to me the holiday season is all about games. Board and card to be more specific, not video or sports. My family rarely all gets together for more than just dinner, so when we're in the same house for hours or days, we break out the board games! My guy and I are big fans too, and over the last few years I've come up with some fun game crafts. So I thought this would be a good time to round up the best homemade games and reconstructed game projects I could find. First I'll show you a project I recently did for Craftstylish: the game Clue remade into the Arrested Development edition!

Also posted with a tutorial on Craftstylish, I made a trivial pursuit coffee table, collaged with vintage book pictures, and totally playable!

Over on craftster, I found an awesome Metalopoly game made by user VeniceIsSinking! Monopoly is a game that you could make personalized to anyone!

Plavalaguna on craftster created a handmade Scrabble game with hand-carved clay and stitched felt!

ParallelFifths on craftster made a totally personalized deck of cards - so much fun!!

CraftyCarrie on craftster made a memory game for her son with pictures of friends and family in the boxes!

Instructables is a great site for game ideas - they have a whole game category! One of my favorites, a project I tried myself awhile back, is by randofo: personalized Guess Who!

Degroof on instructables did a tutorial for making a folding game board, perfect for building your own games from scratch!

For a completely different type of handmade game, computerfaker3 coded a trivia computer application - I had to include this because of my love of trivia...

The other factor inspiring me to round up games today was that I finally finished creating the game that my guy Pete invented quite some time ago: Bad Movie Bingo! We're selling it as a pdf (super cheap!), but the concept may inspire you to create your own fun bingo cards!

Of course, there are endless ideas for making games of all kinds, from inventing your own out of thin air and building it, to just changing elements of already made games and keeping the same playing rules... I think I gave you a good variety of types as examples. I definitely encourage you to raid the board game shelves of your local thrift store(s) - I can usually find great old and newish games with all the pieces for id="blog_post"-3. Can't beat that! Be sure to share with us any awesome ideas you come up with!! And happy holiday gaming!
