Weekly DIY Roundup: Mittens!
Now that all that holiday gift crafting is done, and the weather is nice and chilly, it's time to make some mittens for yourself! I've rounded up some of my favorite free patterns and projects, but there are tons more out there! Especially knitting patterns - if you're a ravelry member, search for free mittens patterns and you'll find 71 pages of results. So I'll start with a super basic pattern, by Kate Gilbert:

Here are some basic mittens with tops that fold back, called Lady's Work Mittens by Sarah Bradberry:

Check out these cute Nintendo themed Mushroom Mittens designed by Kamilla Svanlund, as a Craft pattern podcast pdf download.

I love the stitch pattern on these Warm Winter Mittens by Susanna Winter:

If cables are your thing, here are some gorgeous mittens designed by Tikru of MadeByMyself:

Subliminalrabbit on craftster designed these, based on the mittens worn by Bella in the Twilight movie:

Moving on to stranded knitting, I absolutely love this design on the blog Morkland:

These Hippocampus mittens on The Inside Loop blog look awesome with yarn that slowly changes colors:

Exercise before knitting blog has a pattern for these rad Vespergyle Mitterns - I love argyle!

Hello Yarn, master of stranded knitting, has multiple mittens patterns, including Pirate Mittens, and these adorable Squirrel and Oak Mittens:

If yarn crafts aren't your thing, how about sewing up some mittens using felted wool from a recycled sweater, like Africankelli did, inspired by Martha Stewart.
