I guess that the best way of knowign your size would be to place and pin elastic band (not streched) on to underware you really like. Then strechit out and measure it to know the measurements and replicate the patter with alterations. I think I'll do this one.
When I made these, i got my measurements wrong and they weren't big enough to be ruched, so I sewed ribbons to the sides so they tie at the sides. If anyone else makes this mistake i recommend trying this.
Hi, everyone. I am new to threadbanger, but I couldn't wait to try and make a pair of these kinky bloomers. Like many other people on here, I was worried about the sizing. I made an estimate and, admittedly, my first attempt wasn't quite right. However, I just got my stitch ripper out and added an extra piece of material at either side, and now they fit just fine. I even used the rest of the shirt to make a ruched halter top to go with the knickers! So, I encourage everyone to have a go. With a ruched pattern like this, don't worry too much about the sizing. Just make a start and alter as you go. My sewing machine is an ancient, fixed needle, hand-powered Singer, but she did me proud. If I can do it, anyone can! Thanks for the idea, Clare Bare! Amy x
I printed this pattern out today and after several adjustments (3 pairs of knickers later) I almost have the perfect pattern for me! Thanks so much for giving me a starting point - I think I am addicted to knickers now!
I love this! But I'm just gonna tear the elastic off of some underwear I don't use anymore. I will just use my own under wear as my own model too. Maybe my method might be a bit easier instead of getting measuring you're body.
you can use woven. thats where the elastic comes into play.

i looooved this episode so thanks for sharing the pattern. i can't wait to make my own!! i agree with bringing her back for swimsuit season! i would love to make my own custom suit!
I can't for the life of me, get this pattern to work with my size (medium) I pretty much took a guess at how wide it should be compaired to the small- and it worked okay... but not great. I'm probably better off just cutting up an old pair and going from there...
hey carpe. i think i can help. just adjust the pattern to your hip measurements. this pattern will be about 40in before the elastic is sewn in. so it will really be about 34in - 32in finished. just play around with some muslin with different lengths and different lengths of elastic. . youll figure it out. i hoped that helped out. xoxo -*booface

YAY! I'm so glad I'm not the only people out there who thinks that it would be awesome to make your own underwear. So many possibilities! Thanks so much for sharing this, I'll be linking.
love love love it! please bring her back for swim suit season! i would love to see more on making undies, too. ya know, ladies like cute undies all the time. not just valentines day!
I have noticed the cute undies by Clare Bare on Etsy, and to see her demonstrate in the video made it seem like something I ...might...be able to do on my own. But you know what? Her prices are so reasonable, I think I'll just keep my eye on her shop!
I love those, i haven't made them yet, but i will (: Valentine will be some much more fun this year with these undies on, if you know what i mean, hihi :3 Thank you so much!
i'm having so much trouble with this pattern D: i tried to make one using the same measurements, but i cut it wrong and it didn't fit right at all... idk how to get it right -o-
Thank you so much Clare for doing an episode and sharing your pattern with us. I would like to see more of you in future threadbanger episodes. (I can't remember if you were in past episodes, I haven't seen them all yet.) You were really informative and easy to follow. Thank you so much for the very cute underwear pattern.
I was wondering the same thing. I googled "sewing elastic" & found this site: http://www.ctsusa.com/_e/dept/19/Fancy_Deco_Elastics.htm The Lavender Picot edge looks pretty much like what she used, if you were looking for that particularly. I'm sure you could buy something like that at your local fabric/sewing supply store, though, if you don't want to buy a whole 100 yards.

That's funny- that's exactly where I got it! It's a pretty good deal. Also, http://www.laceheaven.com sells a lot of deadstock elastics and trim at wholesale prices. You can find a lot of lingerie elastics there!

Oh, I forgot to say this earlier! If you think this pattern will be too small, then I have an idea! Just don't sew the sides on the panties together- You can sew on pretty ribbon (or a handful of little ribbons or satiny cording) to each of the side pieces and tie them into cute little bows on your hips! :-)
I just watched the Valentines Special and it's just that kind of pattern and underwear I have been looking for and couldn't find!
I want to pair them up with a litle underbust. Thank you very much Clare :)

I really want to try these out but I noticed that in the picture the measurement on the sides (3.5 inches) looks about the same as the measurement in the middle (2.5 inches). I'm sure if I made my own pattern using the diagram as guidance the leg holes would be all wrong. Does any one have a pattern that's to scale? I can't wait to make my own!!
Then, you make these: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_list_1&listing_id=20296585&ga_search_query=clever+girl+beard+glasses&ga_search_type=tag_title

I'm more of a large than a small... how do I adjust the measurements?
Hey everyone, it's Clare Bare! I just wanted to include my size chart so you have a better idea of where you fit in with the pattern: Waist Measurements: SMALL 26-30 MEDIUM 30-34 LARGE 34-36 You can add a gradual 1/2 inch to the sides of the butt for a size M, and an inch for a size L for more coverage. If you have any more questions about the pattern, I will check back so just let me know! xoxo
