Summer has finally arrived which means celebrities (and presidents) are on vacation and hitting the beach.  Since Father's Day is this weekend, instead of focusing in on this season's bikinis, let's sew up something just for the guys - boardshorts!  Probably one of the most ready-to-wear looking patters is Jalie 2678.  However, there are several other swimming trunk patterns out there that will do the trick including Kwik Sew 2693, Kwik Sew 3421 and Burda 8471 as well as Burda Style's Andre.  The key to making your finished trunks look off-the-rack fabulous is the fabric - woven water resistant nylon and polyester material.  You may find them under their trade names Supplex and Taslan, however almost anything labeld polyester microfiber will work.  Be sure to sew stress point areas such as side and crotch seams in double or tripple stitches to keep active guys from splitting their suit!
