Book Review: Feltique

Feltique: Techniques and Projects for Wet Felting, Needle Felting, Fulling, and Working with Commerical Felt, by Nikola Davidson and Brookelynn Morris, is an idea guide to working with the versatile material. The book consists of 46 projects by different artists that range from various skill levels, so you don't have to be a professional craftsman to create something charming and beautiful!
The book begins with an overview of felt, and chapters are henceforth organized by technique. Projects include how-to's on necklaces, scarves, rugs, organizational materials like envelopes and children's playsets. Projects are rated by skill level, include a list of necessary materials, pictures of finished products and easy-to-follow steps.
My favorites include the spiral beads bracelet and braided wool rug; both delightfully practical and aesthetically appealing! Overall, Davidson and Morris get at an important medium here, exposing the ease and fortitude that felt offers as both a creative possibility and a monetarily valuable material.
