Eco-Fashion Tour: Sustainability Across America, SUST
The economic climate is brutal for the everyman and woman, let alone independent designers pinching buttons, literally, for food. That tidbit of truth is the inspiration behind SUST's, an eco-label out of San Francisco, new country-wide campaign: Sustainability Across America. The tour, which just launched today, tapes interviews with industry experts, boutiques and designer "friends" alike, and shares cumilated footage via Twitter, Facebook and the getsust blog.
The brainchild of Kevin Baum, CEO of SUST, says the trip is not only a SUST-branding effort, but a deliberate, grassroots campaign meant to foster connections at the "store" level by instigating a greater discourse on American's views on where "organic," "sustainable" and "fashion" meet. The van driver, Laura Jones, says:
I hope this journey will help promote the collaborative energy that fuels the sustainable movement. The movement itself seems like a very high-level, ethereal concept, but the reality is that it’s individual people, working to build and change the way we think and live. This trip is an effort to extend the hand, to engage our community and to build friendships so that together we can all help one another thrive and achieve in our efforts towards a common goal.
I'd have to say I agree. I can't wait to see what they publish on all of their social media fronts!
