Dollar Store Crafts: Back-to-School Scarves

You probably have your back-to-school wardrobe covered already, but don't forget about accessories, especially lightweight scarves that can bring you through the end of summer and into fall! Here are some budget-friendly ideas for DIY scarves. You probably have some old clothes in your drawers that are ready to be transformed right now, and you can do any of these in about an hour or less.
Ruffly T-shirt Scarf: Make for FREE
Disney from the Ruffles and Stuff blog made this awesome ruffly scarf from a pair of jersey pants, but you can use any old t-shirt (or maybe last year's jersey sheets?) to make this pretty lightweight scarf.

Braided T-shirt Scarf: Make for FREE
Pickles designed a series of three braided scarves made out of jersey: braid in large, medium, or many small braids (shown). Another great use for a t-shirt past its prime.

Romantic Doily Scarf: Make for about $10
Emily from The Black Apple has a fun fashion blog called Some Girls Wander where she shared this scarf DIY project made from old doilies - so pretty! You can either raid the linen closet or check out your local thrift store to find a collection of doilies to stitch together.

And, bonus idea that's not a scarf but still sort of in the same category:
Jewelry For Your Shirt: Make for about $5
Craftster user lishshop made this jewelry to adorn her shirt using a kilt pin and some costume jewelry. You can customize this any way you want, and since the pins are removable, this is a versatile piece of jewelry that won't permanently change your basic tank or tee.
