Celebrity DIY Style: The One Shoulder Look

When you flip through as many 'fashion' and 'celebrity' websites and magazines as what I do, you'll notice that many of the dresses and tops that people wear start looking alike - it's really just a few twists on some basic styles. However, every once in awhile, I come across a dress that grabs my attention. Today, it's the one-shouldered design. Apparently, I really love this style because as I was writing this entry, I discovered that I had already talked about this a year ago on Threadbanger! So is there any new patterns out there to help you create this look for yourself? Sadly, no - but only if you're looking for a commercial pattern (be sure to check out 'vintage' and out-of-print patterns on auction sites for some great one-shoulder looks). However, the interent is such a vast resource of creativity and talent, that there are several great tutorials to sew up an off the shoulder look: This set of video tutorials on Instructables will show you how to created a One Ruffle Shirt, while this video on YouTube deomonstrates how to make an one-shoulder design with sleeves, and be sure to watch this video on YouTube will show you a quick t-shirt recon. If none of these styles seem to pique your interest, then learn how to alter your pattern for the one-shoulder look. I think I'll be playing with this technique soon - clearly I need one of these designs!
