Weekly DIY Roundup: Fingerless Mitts, part 1 - Sewn and Recycled!

Now that it's March and there's a touch of Spring in the air, I'm starting up a 3 part fingerless mitts roundup series! This week isn't super long - all the ideas and tutorials I could find for mitts that are either sewn or recycled (or both), not knit or crocheted. The knit and crochet roundups will surely be bigger!

First up are these awesome, warm mitts designed by Kristin Roach - download her free pattern pdf, complete with shape templates, on Craft Leftovers:

Girl on the Rocks gives a fabulous tutorial for these Angora Handwarmers, made with a recycled sweater and lots of cute buttons:

Alittlestranger on instructables shows us how to make these awesome Glittens (fingerless glove-mittens), also from a recycled sweater:

Skyisblu, also on instructables, explains how to make these simple recycled sweater fingerless gloves, which she embellished with cute flower appliqués:

And lastly for the sweater recycling, Heather at Croq Zine tells us how she made these cute fingerless gloves from a felted sweater:

Panda on craftster posted a couple of fingerless gloves templates, which you could use with recycled sweater felt, or recycled t-shirts for a warmer weather version! This example shows the shape of them:

There's no tutorial for these, but for more inspiration you can check out wasabimommi's pair of fleece gloves on craftster:

Trickygirlb, also on craftster, shows us how to make these no-sew mitts from pieces of fleece - again, you could use the same concept with different kinds of recycled fabric instead:

And now for some versions made with recycled socks! Cat Morley on Cut Out + Keep posted a fabulous tutorial for this super cute sock gloves:

Elvesparklydoodas on craftster shows us how to make a simple pair of fingerless gloves from socks:

And lastly, I did a trio of fingerless mitts how-tos for Craft magazine awhile back, which I re-posted on my own blog - parts 1+2 are both made from recycled socks (you'll be seeing the third version in the knits part of this roundup series!):
