thread heads are the coolest people on the planet.
rob and i had the honor of meeting not one, but two fellow thread heads this past couple of days! we are currently in san francisco gathering so much amazing content for the show (this friday don't miss our coverage of the THREAD event and a how to make the most hip article of clothing in the city...but i digress)
Karlo aka Pinoyblaze, forum moderator and extraordinaire, and two of his super sweet friends drove from san jose to visit us at the Stitch Lounge. he showed us how to make one of his signature pieces and we walked around to check out some of the really great DIY only stores in the area. we had a really great time and really appreciate them coming to visit us. mark your calendars for october 19th to finally uncover the mystery behind the man...too dramatic? we are also taking a tour of the Stitch Lounge and sitting down with Melissa Alvarado cofounder of Stitch and co-author of Sew Subversive, and the new book which launches october 16th, Subversive Seamster.
we visited forum member Kate at her lovely home in benicia, ca. she was so sweet and generous. and she is a reeeealllly talented seamstress. i was very impressed with her knowledge and great way of explaining things. she showed us some amazing zipper skills that are going to revolutionize your world if you don't know zippers. and we got to meet her family who were really nice too... her 3 year old Jack has already made his own pillow! we are not sure the exact date Kate's episode is going to "air" but we will keep you posted.
it has been incredible to meet other thread heads while we are out here. a huge thanks to Karlo and Kate for being so warm and amazing! you made our trip out here ten thousand times better! i cannot wait till we meet more of you! ryan moore in va beach and neff in ohio are next on our lists. neff is actually the first to suggested the idea of us meeting up with forum folks. sorry if it seems we always go to the bigger cities, don't despair.....if you ask us we will come, eventually:) also, we are working on getting a thread heads event of some sorts together. we'll keep you posted on where and when.
much love
xoxo

P.S. not that i was worried or anything, but i thought i'd use this time to say something important. if you are one of our younger thread heads please be sure your parents say its ok before you meet anyone in person that you've met online. ok, i feel better.
