We’re Not In Kansas Anymore
I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore! It’s not all cornfields and tornados; Kylie Earlene Grater’s line, Early Jewelry, has us over the rainbow with glee. Beginning in Riley, Kansas, Grater uses the rural Midwest’s plains, vast horizons, crops, and the rotating seasons as inspiration for her unique jewelry collection. The simple life is reflected in her works and you can almost see the correlation between the cycles of planting, changing weather, and harvests in the materials like wood, feathers, bone, and more she uses in her designs (Grater prefers to use organic materials found among her rural landscape).
In addition to her Midwest influences, Grater also draws from her time spent studying in England and also in Africa working with an HIV/AIDS project. In addition to her own creations, Grater also reinvents items by reconstructing broken and vintage jewelry. Her two collections are divided into two main lines: AM and PM. Each piece is handcrafted and the AM line has ready to wear jewelry while the PM line consists of one-of-a-kind items. AM’s collection has earrings, necklaces, and bracelets in sleek bone works balanced out with ornate engraved wooden disks pieces, while the PM line has gold-filled wooden disk earrings as well as feather earrings, and unique one-of-a-kind charm necklaces. With Kansas looking this good, we know why Dorothy wanted to go back.

Oh man, that stuff is expensive, and unfortunatly not unique enough to bother spending that much.
Looks like the stuff at Urban Outfitters.
