Project Boutique

Whether you want handmade stuff to give, keep or just want to get some inspiration for projects of your own, Cog & Pearl is a shopper's handmade paradise. Located in Brooklyn, Cog & Pearl started back in 2002 by "partially unemployed and soul-scouring partners" Kristin Overson and Seth Walter. Creators Overson and Walter agreed upon starting a boutique that had to have artist-made goods of all sorts, their own disparate tastes, no corporate bosses, cubicles or commutes, and the final rule...they had to love every single item they carried (or agree to disagree). Today, Cog & Pearl is a successful boutique selling handmade jewelry, personal and home accessories, clothes, books, cards, and other random must-have items you never knew you needed.
But non-New Yorkers needn’t worry because Cog & Pearl has an online boutique where shoppers nationwide can buy, browse, and get a little inspiration. We love these Embroidered Silk Neckties from Bonnie Heart Clyde. Her 100 percent silk ties are accented with freehand machine embroidery in one-of-a-kind designs like skulls, robots or trees. Our second favorite is this Cork and Wood Grain Fabric Wallet by Tracey Tanner made from cork and lined with cotton wood grain fabric. The best part? Cog & Pearl is always looking for new designers and unique creations. Simply send an e-mail to submissions@cogandpearl.com along with a few photos of your work. If you’re lucky, they may just put in an order.
