Deep Thoughts

I have never used a "real" pattern. Yes, I've created my own and made nice things from them but never in my life attempted a professional pattern. Shocking, I know. Honestly, they scared the crap out of me. There have been several times that I felt all ambitious and decided to go for it. Then I would pull the pattern out of the envelope open it up and that's about as far as I would get. The most use I've ever gotten out of a "real" pattern is making other patterns out of them and wrapping gifts with them.
Going to the Burda Style Studios the other day changed my life. I feel super confident now about trying out a pattern. Especially one of theirs. They are so easy to follow and how cool is it that you can print it out from your home printer and assemble in minutes....and all for FREE! So, if you have been putting off the patterns, i recommend trying one of theirs to start off.
Well, we are off to SXSW tomorrow (our flight is at 6am!)! If you don't know what SXSW is, I recommend checking out their website...or you can just wait for the 5 days of coverage we are going to bring you all next week!
till then!

Although... wrapping presents with pattern paper sounds actually very cool too...
With knitting, I feel more comfortable doing hats, mitts, scarves with no pattern, but I like a pattern (at least as a starting point) for sweaters.
Speaking of knitting, Corinne, is the pattern for your scarf (the gray one in this episode) available?? I'd love to make one.
I'm usually pretty confident using patters, I like that list of directions. But, I getting ready to move onto my own parts and pieces. I find it more intimidating.
