Low-Sew

POSTED BY Stacy Schlyer, 27 March 2008

I'll admit it, I dislike working on time consuming projects. I tend to make things that look like you spent hours slaving over a sewing machine, but were quickly whipped up in a day (or two) just by taking a few shortcuts. About a year ago, a book called Low-Sew Boutique came out that demonstrated how placemats and potholders can be turned into backpacks and hand bags - all in an afternoon. Not only did I love the idea of re-purposing materials, but the best part was, you didn't have to the be the most proficient sewer to make easy purses and accessories. Needless to say, I was thrilled to find out that I can take the knowledge I learned fromt his book and (attempt to) win a contest. You can join the fun too, just by taking ordinary household items and turn them into something new. Put your creativity to the test and enter Homestead Specialities Low-Sew Boutique Challenge to win one of 6 prize packages (in two age catagories). You have until October 1, 2008 to submit your creations. Good Luck!
