Designing Your Own Fabric
One of my favorite aspects of sewing is the planning stage. I love looking at a pattern and envisioning how it would look in a varitey of fabrics. Most of the time I can find material that will work for the project I have in mind. However, there are times I would love to make something in a fabric that doesn't seem to exist... that's when I wish I could design my own material. Thankfully, that dream may not be too far away - a new website, Spoonflower, will offically launch in May and has been delving into the idea of allowing customers to design their own fabric. In the mean time, you can register to become a Beta tester for the site and learn more about the important aspects of fabric design such as preparing a fabric design for printing and repeating an image to make a pattern.
