Weekly DIY Roundup: Drink Cozies!

POSTED BY Lee Meredith, 04 July 2008

In the spirit of the day, a day of outdoor grilling and drinking in the sun, I'm bringing you a roundup of cozies to keep your beer/soda/whatever cool and lookin' good!

First, this one is just for fun, My Science Project has a tutorial for this rice krispies treat cozy!

The same site did a test on what kinds of cozies keep drinks the coldest, including normal and wacky varieties (check out the legos!), in case you want to get scientific with your crafty cozy designs.

Girl on the Rocks is a cozy knitting expert, with a pattern on her blog for the King's Cozy (the cabled one) and a free pattern on ravelry for the sock yarn cozy. I love the 40oz paper bag cozy, but there's no pattern for that one...

I made this knit, felted cozy for my brother for his 21st birthday. No pattern, but it's just a tube, knit much bigger than the bottle, then felted in hot water in the sink until it was down to the right size, and dried to block on the bottle.

If you're a quick crocheter, maybe you can hook up this guy in time to use for your 4th of July festivities, from freecraftunlimited.com:

Another cute crochet pattern by Alicia Kachmar on Craft: for baseball lovers...

And this crocheted cozy doesn't include a pattern, but it looks simple to improvise and the embellishment is so adorable! Gnome bottle cozy by UntouchableFace on craftster:

Random Blogging posted a tutorial for this belt clip cozy, made with a recycled breastfeeding bag!

Jennifer E. makes these awesome sewn cozies, for coffee cups, cans, or bottles. No how-to, but they are rad inspiration for trying out your own sewn cozy ideas...

Femiknitter on craftster made a wrap-around armadillo can cozy, so silly, I love it!

And dani24 on craftster shows you how to knit a mug cozy, if tea/coffee at home is more your thing...

I'll leave you with this "make-shift beer cozy" by nevermore75 on flickr...

There are tons more knit cozies out there, but I didn't want to be too knit-heavy. Have any other ideas? Share in the comments!

It's great to see all the different types of cozies, but I'm disappointed that mine was included in the round-up. http://www.threadbanger.com/post/8015/fathers-day-gifts

    HAha, those are cool!
    Here's a good idea -
Since people knit some how about felting them?
You could find like a rainbow yarn and felt it -
It would look like tie die!
HAHA! I'm totally trying that!! =]
