Worn Out: Street Style Picks
Hey guys! Here are my top five favorite photos from the last two weeks in the street style blogosphere. Be sure to leave agreements, disagreements, and YOUR favorite street style photos in the comments section - here we go:

These two are both from the Parisian blog Garance Dore; I started reading it relatively recently and am never not impressed with both the photography and the outfits. The first photo is from a July 4 post, and what struck me was the proportion - the fitted blazer and slouchy pant are an odd but pleasing pair and together they're right on trend. The look is a little Duckie but without the crazy 80s connotations, and the detail shot of his weighted-down necklace is what sealed the deal. The second photo (from a July 2 post) had just as gorgeous a detail shot, but what I liked best was the sum of this outfit's parts. The tortoiseshell glasses and silk scarf class up the leather dress (sure, the shape is demure but IT'S MADE OF LEATHER), and even though I'm way sick of gladiator sandals they are like a lifeline to summer in an outfit that would otherwise be better suited for Fall.

The photo at left is from a July 3 post at The Sartorialist; the photo on the right is from July 7 at Stockholm Street Style. Both looks are built on the huge Summer shorts trend, but the differences in styling are dramatic. At left, the shorts take on a breezy, schoolboy attitude as part of a suit, and while, again, the gladiators aren't-so-fresh but are still unexpected in an outfit that could have gone really costume-y with oxfords or lace-ups. My favorite touch is the threadbare t-shirt underneath, and SPEAKING of threadbare, I'm way into how distressed the denim shorts are in the photo on the right. They are definitely a sign of things to come for Fall/Winter. Her whole look is super laid-back but sharp around the edges, and can I get some agreement in that it's great to see a curvy girl rock short shorts?

My hands-down favorite look from the last two weeks is actually - gasp! - menswear! This fella (from a June 30 post at Seattle's Pike/Pine) takes a chambray, a fabric traditionally used for workwear (and one of my very favorite fabrics of all) and keeps it attitude-free but incredibly refined. The smart white belt and silver watch are also aces, if you ask me.
