Distress Signals

Distressed denim is big on the radar for Fall and, I'll be honest - holds a rather large place in my heart. When I was in junior high I was totally enamored of all things grunge and MTV, and my adolescent self spend a solid six months with a flannel tied around my waist and gaping holes in the knees of my jeans. I eventually moved on to less (and sometimes more) embarassing style obsessions, but I never got over the appeal of a pair of amazingly worn-in, ripped-to-shreds, dirty old blue jeans - and this time around I'll be taking cues from the Alexander Wang Fall 08 and Maison Martin Margiela Spring 08 runways (as opposed to early 90s-era 120 Minutes) when I bust out the scissors and the sandpaper for my DIY version.
Are you feeling distressed denim this (or every) season? Is it a trend completely tied to the current 90s fashion resurgence or were well-loved jeans never really OUT of style?

Oh, thank you for the Kurt Cobain picture. My heart actually skipped a beat.
I love worn out jeans! It used to be a big joke with all my friends, cause I wore holey jeans all the time in high school, after they went out of style. (I did quit wearing the tights under them though lol) I'm definitely glad they're "in" again!
Ahh.... the 90's. Boy do I miss them.
Ooo, I love ripped up jeans. Went a little crazy with one of my own, nearly more holes than jeans. Someone got more ideas of destruction than what thet old threadbanger episode shows?
