Weekly DIY Roundup: T-Shirts into Tank Tops!
Anyone else wanting more tank tops for the summer? While Portland summer weather is mild in comparison, I've still been wanting to cut up some t-shirts and make them into more comfy tank tops, which can be super simple or crazy elaborate, or somewhere in between. There are some great books on the subject of t-shirt reconstruction, like Megan Nicolay's Generation T, but I'll get you started on some tank top projects with some versions I've rounded up for you...
A couple from Megan's book, first of all, Corinne and Rob did a video tutorial for a basic no-sew tank, and eco-artware has a couple no-sew projects reprinted from the book, including a tube top and this cute tank top:

WikiHow has a tutorial for the easiest kind of t-shirt recon - basically, cut the sleeves off! If you have a t-shirt that fits well, that's really all you have to do...

But, if you have a t-shirt that's way too big, the girls over on craftster will show you some ideas for making a cute fitted tank. Like inbetweenday's Zorro top!

There also a Superman tank top by Mayree, and Jessiesmess made a great strappy top from her boyfriend's old t. Also from way too big shirts, pinkiestarr made a couple tanks with mesh sides, clever!

One more too-large recon: mary_lou86 made this cute ribbony version:

But what if you find a shirt you love that's too small? CraftoKafro made up a full tutorial for converting it to a rad tank top, that's what!

And last, but definitely not least, Craft Chi has a fabulous tutorial for this amazing doily racerback top!

So beat the heat by making some t's into tanks, and share your creations in the forums, I'd love to see them!
