Friends of Threadbanger:
Pfft. Too crafty is code for "I'm jealous of you and you're too good for our show."
Aha.
You'd think that like...by being 'crafty' it means that you better use your resources and have a wider imagination.
Big mistake letting you go.
HI Corinne! I have been sewing all my life, I have a clothing line, I have an online store, I have a real life store, I have lots and lots of fashion and design classes under my belt, and hey, by the time I learned all that, guess what? I'm 47!
So Tim Gunn would probably tell me that I am an excellent tailor, my construction is flawless, but I am too old and my stuff looks to "Hippie girl"...now I am afterall one of those so what can I say?
If I could tell you anything its that YOU have been an inspiration to me because of your never endind enthusiasm and prolific creativity!
Just..ya know....keep sewing til you get really really good at it...try some conventional patterns so you can get the feel of that...etc.....
Project Runway is about high fashion...and we all dont fit there, but perhaps Corinne its time for our own project runway Threadbanger style where we do same but with our kind of stufff!
You rock girl and dont ever forget it!
Too crafty? Don't they realize the 'crafty' look is in right now?! As well as being green? I'm guessing it wasn't Mr. Gunn exactly who said that. He's honest but he's also nice. If they try to tell you that next year, just say "Maybe. But maybe we should let the viewers decide that. I certainly believe you need to let me prove myself and show you what I can really do."
maybe im wrong, but i some what understand why the would call it "crafty".
Like myself personaly, when people ask if i sew im hesitant to answer, i recycle clothes. i barely know what fabrics work with what, and to this day i make horrible makes with fabrics that weight to much and just wont hold up, ect.
i personally believe that thread bangers is a website for everyone. anyone who wants to make one of a kind things and what not. project runway however isnt for everyone though, its for the elite.
dont get me wrong, i think corinne is amazing! (and sexy! i would turn straight for her in like a split second) all im saying, is i can see why they made the mistake of not having you. But keep up the good work, and theres always next year!
love,
aj
I was looking forward to seeing you on season 6! :(
But at least you got to see Tim Gunn. That's exciting!!
You were robbed, robbed I say!
They keep on saying "crafty" like it's a bad word!
I'm so dissappointed, but I will hope that you persist and end up in PR7 (and WIN it!).
This season is a little less exciting, but Kelli and Kenley are, so far, my two favourites and I hope they go to the final.
Big, BIG hughs!
~Carol.
I would have loved to see you on Project Runway!! They do not know what they are missing!
i would make my own show lol ...
but i don't think you clouthes are to crafty but you should keep trying to get in !!! i would
WOW, I feel so out of the loop, why am I now just hearing about this? I'm so proud of you for getting to the interview process, regardless of the results, you made it a lot farther than most. And you heard back right away which is awesome. Ask Rob about all the audition tapes he used to help me make when I was trying to get onto the REAL WORLD shows for MTV (laffs). -Steve C
SHINANNIGANS!!! I CALL SHINANNIGANS! they're probably afraid that you'll inspire too many people to break away from the flock and make their OWN clothes! but hey, you got to meet tim gunn, that's something! and my respect has gone down for the show for some time now, seems that they're more concerned about ratings than fashion, and the way that they judge the competitors reflect that.
You would think they would be LOOKING for someone crafty.
For someone who uses their craft to create the ideal look that no one else could achieve.
On the good side, people won't label your work as 'over rated' and you've still got your talent.
[:
Oh, that is so sad that you didn't make it, Corinne. I am glad for all of us, because we would have really missed you here on Threadbanger. Be encouraged that you got the audition and talked to Tim Gunn. That had to be worth something!
Oh Corinne! :( Sorry hun! I also disagree that your stuff is "too crafty" I think your very innovated and "green"!
Nonetheless, I'm proud you actually got an audition!! And you got to see Tim Gunn!! I'm an aspiring fashion designer myself, I start college in a months time and I would just die if I didn't get onto project runway, But it's a very big thing to be proud of, getting to the audition!
too crafty? ...too crafty?
ah, well. Your still amazing.
At least you tried.
Dont give up.
try again next year!
Don´t give up, try again next year!!!.
Corinne,
To Crafty my behind. I don't know about you but being a designer is about be crafty and thinking outside the box. Well to bad for Mr Gunn. We get to keep you. Just remember one day he will see just how great you and the boy wonder truly are (my pet name for Rob). Cheers and keep up the great work and ideas. Y'all are great.
whatever...doesnt matter keep working hard and plz try next season
That totally sucks! But there's always next year. you're awesome, you just have to be persistent.
Ridiculous!! Crafty? well you're a wonderful designer in our eyes, threadbanger fans will never fault you Corinne!!
what!! ok thats kinda dumb on their part. i mean they whoulda got more veiwers if they put you on cause YOU ARE AWSOME!!!! but yeah i was soooooo hopeing that you would be on PR so i could hog the tv for an hour and watch you create. maybe next time. but hey at least if your not on PR we can see you on TB.
big virtual hug for ya!
I'm sorry you didn't make it, but huge props for trying and getting as far as you did! At least 'crafty' isn't a bad thing to be! The fashion industry isn't ready for your style, lady. ;)
Aww... I was actually quite sure you'd get in....
Never mind! You still rock in my books!
awe too bad (for them) you would have been FABULOUS! I agree with tthe others especially the one that said to work on maybe pattern drafting and try again next year. also I'd kill to meet Timm Gunn! or just have him go thru my closet and give me a fresh eye!! my dh tells me every season that I should try out for the next one, but I dont think I'd be right for the show (too much drama) and I'd just try to "mommy" every one! LOL
Whatever they say your still cool!!!Your inspiration to me and in end you are the winner!=)
aww, I'm upset that they thought you were "crafty" but I love that you stay positive. True inspiration. I luv you Corinne! and Rob is so amazing, lol. Can't wait to see whats next. As always.
*snip snip* haha
Can we see some of the designs you put in your portfolio?
weak!
i agree with everyone else. aarghhh im so mad at them for caling ur designs crafty!! but dont worry corinne! we all support you and you dont need a fashion "reality show" to be succesfull in the industry. You already are a big star for all of us. :)
Corinne, you're still my favorite. You're awesome regardless of their decision.
Wow, I was actually getting super excited to see something different. Well, at least you've got tons of people here that love what you do. In fact, I wonder if it would have an impact if everyone on the forum sent in convincing letters to the show?
I agree with the previous posters telling you to work on your designs and try again next year. I can see what they mean by a "crafty". Maybe learn and practice some coutore techniques? Learn more pattern drafting, draping etc. to get away from the "crafty" aspects of your work. You kind of have a coutore thing going on with some pieces. I think us the thread banger viewers would like to see more about pattern drafting and draping methods too!
Aww, Corrine. I was rooting for you. But honestly, I'm a bit relieved that you didn't get on (this time)for my own selfish reasons. I mean, if you woulda made it on, that means you woulda left Rob all alone. . . . and then we all know you woulda won, girlie. . . .that'd be no fun for your frans (friend/fans) back here at TB. lol.
i's so happy you made it to the auditions :)
and well... project runway is just not for you.... yet
saludos :)
Corrine,
That's ludicrous that they would judge you on what you have made and not what you would be challenged to make. Crafty Smafty...you have talent and that's the truth of the matter. I can just hear old Tim now..."COORRINE (long drawn out drawl)...we don't bang thread here my dear!" LOL! Keep doin' your thang...it gives all of us inspiration.
MEH, work on your stuff, and enter for season 7! That'll show that you're persistent, and Tim will remember you, and I'm sure you'll get on!
I ownome of Kelli's stuff too, it just makes me love it even more!
Don't feel bad, reality shows are looking for a very specific person and skill set, and whether you qualify for that corporate-created category has very little bearing on who YOU are and what YOU can do. That having been said, I'm sad you won't make it to PR next season, because I think you would have made a great addition to the show! But keep going on with threadbanger and what you're doing now, I really believe you guys will go far with this!
Also... besides... you got to meet Tim Gunn! How awesome is that!?
Oh, I'm so disappointed! I was loving the possibility of seeing you on PR. Especially since last season was so overall lame. I am glad to hear that you know Kelli, though-- she's my favorite so far this season.
Anyway, concurring with all the comments that PR just doesn't know what it's missing.
WHAT?! CRAFTY?! LAAAAAAME!!!!
please tell me you walked in in the pirate outfit! that would make my day!
kelli is pretty freakin amazing!
please tell me you got that part of tim gunn on tape!!!
I'm sorry that this didn't work out for you. I really wanted to see what you create on the show but that's how that goes.
Now .......I'll slip in my mommy shoes...........
This just means that there's something else out there for you. I really believe in what you and Rob and Meg and others are doing with Threadbanger . I believe there is an audience for it and sooner than you think you'll be so busy you wont have time to think.
Keep up the good work. You're someone to be proud of . ;-}
Pssh, they are crazy! I mean, that show not only needs people who are good at what they do (you) but people with great personalities (you)
I believe if you try out again next year and show more stuff you can do, they'll come around!
I don't like this season 5 anyway >.>
that's rediculous
well.. im pretty sure you should get together some badd ass designs that are suuper chic, audition next year, and shov it in their faces how amazing you are... and then get on the show and win of course
congrats on getting that far and meeting tim gunn!. :) you have the talent
WHAT?? THAT'S RIDICULOUS. Too crafty...
Well, if you want to apply again next year, you know where you need to improve, right? So I guess it's not a total let-down. And TIM GUNN?? ACTUALLY? Lucky!! He's my favourite.
What!? Crafty!?
whatever. I completely disagree. However, I did wonder if they would not accept you since you do something that is so anti-mainstream.
However that is SO exciting that you got to meet Tim Gunn! I would love to meet him someday!
