Weekly DIY Roundup: Weaving!

To celebrate the new issue of Craft magazine, which hits newsstands on Tuesday and includes a bunch of weaving projects, I'm bringing you this weaving roundup to pump you up! First off, my personal weaving role model is Sister Diane of Craftypod, who not only makes these awesome woven cards, but she even has a whole podcast episode about simple weaving projects!

 

Also on the craftypod blog, Diane did a post last week praising the Weave-It Loom, a super simple little square loom which has its own flickr group full of project pictures.

 

 

If you want to build your own loom, you can start small with a cardboard loom using this tutorial on art-rageous.net, or you can go large with something like this one made with PVC pipe by subloke on craftster.

 

 

For something a little different, check out craftster user Blue_Frog's pdf downloads for building and weaving on a triangle loom.

 

 

I love re-nest's idea of using cut-up socks to weave a pot holder, just like the ones I made when I was little, but all recycley!

And take a look at this amazing work of art made by thistledown for her final weaving class project - if you really get into this whole weaving thing maybe you can aspire to someday create something this beautiful!
