Weekly DIY Roundup: Skirt Tutorials!
Oh man, it's been hot! And for me, this kind of weather means skirts skirts skirts! I can never have too many! Especially the cool, flowing, lightweight kind. I'm hoping to find the time this weekend to make a couple from some thrifted bedsheets! So I've rounded up a bunch of tutorials, pattern how-to's, and inspirational designs to help you with any last-leg-of-summer skirt making you might want to embark on...
The "5-minute skirt" by Amy Karol of angry chicken might take you a lil' bit longer than the name implies, but it's still very simple and super cute!

I love petchy's A-line skirt on craftster, which uses the same concept as the 5-minute skirt - taking a skirt you already have that fits well and use it as a template for your new skirt, and Susan Beal wrote an A-line skirt how-to using the same concept on her website, susanstars.

If you don't have a skirt you love to use as an A-line template, the sew-mad blog has a tutorial for drafting your own custom pattern.

One of my personal favorite kinds of skirt, to make and to wear, is the wraparound skirt, and violi was awesome to post this how-to based on a vintage 70's design on the getcrafty forums (scroll down to the middle of the page).

This wrap skirt by Seegmonster on craftster is much more complex, but so flippin' adorable, I love it!!

LulaLouise has a tutorial for making pleated skirts:

And Lisa Clarke of the Polka Dot Cottage blog wrote a how-to for this super simple fluffy skirt made with a twin sheet:

Over on craftster, rickrackruby gives us a tutorial for this super unique looking rad stripey skirt!

Craft Chi came up with this brilliant idea of using cheap pantyhose to make ruffles on a simple skirt, looks awesome!

Jcarolinecreative.com has a tutorial for this peasant skirt:

And the Anticraft shows you how to make "a petticoat for the ages" - which can be worn alone or underneath a dress or another skirt!

Better Homes and Gardens gives us a free pattern for this 6-panel circle skirt:

Pink_Dinosaur on craftster made this simple circle skirt with bedsheet fabric, and she shares a tutorial with us!

And, oh my goodness, the mother of all handmade skirts - Crafty Intentions on craftster made this incredible 10 tiered patchwork work of art, consisting of a rainbow of 4x4 squares. I am in awe.

I'll leave you with a link to a tutorial I posted over on my blog last week for a simple skirt made with a recycled t-shirt.
Hope this roundup gave you some summery skirt ideas! Have fun sewing!
