Worn Out: Street Style Picks

Yo guys! Here are my top 5, very favorite street style looks from the past two weeks of street fashion blogging. As always, I'd love to know what YOUR thoughts are on the below - leave all your sweet nothings, outrageous disagreements, and namecheck your favorite street style blogs in the comments section! I'm a big fan of the current lace craze, and I dug both these outfits for the easy, casual way they worked the often formal-looking fabric into their day-to-day. The espadrilles and peek-a-boo bra of the outfit at left, from an August 4 post at French blog Garance Dore, lend an almost tropical feel to her look - and infuses the Granny-style lace with some humor. The sheer lace top at right, from an August 1 post at Face Hunter, has a far more "cocktail" feel than the previous look, but she keeps the look really young with short-shorts in an unexpected color and fabric. The contrasting ribbon belt, cross-body bag, and hole-y tights also work against the inherent dressiness of her top, and it all comes together really nicely - though I'm dying to see those shoes!!

What I loved about these next two were how they wore their pants - I'm still on a big trouser kick and was excited to see two such interesting interpretations on the trend. At left, OutKast's Andre 3000 (aka Andre Benjamin) made his first Sartorialist appearance in an August 7 post; he kept his trouser look summer-centric and laidback. Like the Garance Dore photo above, I'm really into what I hereby declare to be called urban-tropicalia: a city-smart take on Havana nights. While we wait to see if that little phrase takes off, I'll be here admiring how dapper he looks in the wider-brimmed straw hat and how impeccable the fit of his trousers and shirt is. I also like the cut and fit of the trousers on the right, from an August 4 post at The Style Scout. She takes a decidedly more Fall-ready stance, pairing the genie-ish pants with and a plaid top and close-toed shoes; the straw bag, exposed arms, and the tie-knot of the top, however, all work to keep the look anchored in the here and now.

My very favorite street style photo of the last couple weeks has to be the above look, from a July 24 post at Stil in Berlin. On the surface, the look is gorgeously feminine and so simple; closer inspection reveals so much detail. The pattern of the blouse mixes perfectly with the detail of the bodice of the dress, and the soft tiers of the skirt add yet another interesting layering element. Accessories were kept to a bare minimum - but, oh! those shoes! They're a vampy finish to an otherwise very sweet look, and it's such a nice touch.
