Bust Magazine's 15th Anniversary

Last night was the 15th anniversary of Bust Magazine- that saucy mag for women who need a little more strange and different than is featured in Vogue and Marie Claire. Bust is the magazine “For women who need to get something off their chests.” They are shamelessly outright sexual, liberal, unapologetic, and feminist but still starried-eyed around celebrities. I love them for every outrageous word they write.
And they can throw a pretty rockin’ party. I was lucky enough to attend last night and it was a mix of cabaret, burlesque, gold pants, androgyny, comedy, and rock n’ roll. The incomparable Amy Sedaris hosted with acts like the Pontani Sisters, Lady Circus, Morningwood, comedian Murray Hill, JD Samson formerly of Le Tigre, and gem sweater connoisseur Leslie Hall.

It was a wild and colorful evening that provided free cupcakes, hammock seats, surrounding circus entertainment and goody bags. My favorite item in the goody bag had to be the Color Me Fierce: A Fashion Activity Book with directions like “Help Sarah finish getting dressed so she can make your breakfast!” and “Is Laura dodging another DUI charge? Help her evade the po-po with a classic all-black look or totally hip camo style.”
