i've always wanted to make my own lip balm. buying bert's bees is so expensive. i hate that things that your are just putting on your lips has to be so pricey. isn't the economy up enough.

I have a other recipe for lip balm. It's fairly simple and u can recycle old lip balm tins. All you need is 1 spoonfull pertroleum jelly 1 spoonful cocoa powder or juice mix (sugar already added) 5 - 10 drops of edible coloring

what kind of country doesn't have Labello?! lol. It is sad that our neighbours to the south must suffer dry lips. : ( Thanks for the recipe, I'll have to give it a try! My mom is allergic to fragrace/parfum (not to smells, but to the ingredient, which contains chemicals) and a lot of lip balms have just a touch of it. At least when you make it yourself you know what's in it!

You can get Labello in Mexico, too. Anyway, great recipe... I'm a lip balm junkie myslef, so I'm definitely trying this!

Umm ok I do not think I was clear! :S I know you have Nivea bodycare and that it owns Labello but in the uk its called Nivea Lipcare not Labello

1/2 cup bees wax, 1/2 cup any type of oil(we've done it with canola), and 2 tblsp honey. Melt gently, add any fragarence or color you want and pour into containers. I like to add some Vitamen E oil as part of the 1/2 cup of oil. It contains some healing properties. We've put in little metal containers and once in small (tiny) flower pots from the craft store.

Homemade lip gloss is the best thing I ever made. I rarely use anything else and my lips have never been healthier. Things like lip smackers, lip chap, vaseline etc. all made my lips peel eventually and you have to follow their scents. But now I make as much as i want, when i want, with that i want and in whatever scent i want.

You can get Labello in Mexico too, and Nivea is a body lotion.

Labello is called Nivea here(uk) so that might save you a little on postage if you ever feel like going back to store brought lippies

i thought this was lip GLOSS as the title suggested, i'm not too fond of lip balms (ironically enough they make my lips dry out or atleast FEEL dry)

Great little recipe and it does indeed seem quite simple! These would be lovely in gift baskets for the holidays :) The only problem I would have is the almond oil as I have allergies. Any substitute suggestions?

Ah, I am lucky enough to live in Chicago, where you get Labello lip balm at Merz Apothecary, an European-style bath and body shop that's been in business here for nearly 100 years.

Every girl (and the occasional boy) here owns a Labello. Or so it would seem anyway. I prefer natural lip balms and I've been living off a small supply of New Zealand lip balms made of bee's wax, olive oil and essential oils. This recipe sounds great, I wish I knew where to find all those ingredients and a case.

You can get Labello in Canada as well. This recipe sounds a lot nicer than Labello, though.
