How to Fuse Plastic Bags into a Laptop Case - Threadbanger

I'm curious, could I make a dress this way... I mean It might not be the most comfortable dress, but do you think it's doable?

hello. i have tried fusing plastic bags a couple times and they never work out right! the plastic bag was really firm when it came out but it wasn't even fused properly. i love the tutorial though and i really want to make it. help?!

I love this! As a test, i made a small purse for my daughter, she is 3 and loved it! Now Im confident enough to make one for my netbook. it's hard to find a cool netbook case, this will be perfect!!

Years ago, my Grandfather (I am 65) whittled a big crochet hook and collected at first nylon stockings (pretty sturdy and quick drying) to crochet foot wiping rugs for everyone in the family. By the time I got married '66, he had progressed to plastic bread bags. The old wonderbread ones with multicolored cycles were particularly pretty. The one I received for my home, on an exterior porch exposed to the weather, lasted more then 10 years! I made a bathing suit carrier bag out of smaller strips that lasted 20 years. I wish I'd had the support to display it proudly. My kids made me hide it, because the kids in the neighborhood laughed at them.

One thing to keep in mind is that some plastic bags these days are made out of bioplastics which are designed to decompose. This would be a bad thing to use for this project, I imagine.

I've tried doing this can you do somthing easier please.

Hi, Wonderful tutorial.. but unfortunately it is not working with our plastic bags. We are using the iron at medium but our bags are not getting fused and they get a lot of wrinkles on them..We are pressing the iron for 30 secs each side.. Please help, we are very keen on building stuff using fused plastic..

I've been fusing for a while now, but I never thought to make a laptop case! I might do this, but maybe I'll add some iron-on transfers. I've done those to "boring" bags before, and to great success. Thanks for the idea!

Can't you mod that idea into a backpack...i'm short so allmost all backpacks are centered at my lowerback, so i think i can mod this to make a REAL backpack for myself. Thankies

Apparently I'm half retarded, because... this doesn't work for me. They shrink like crazy immediately. Then they're a fourth the size they should be and with a thousand air bubble wrinkles.

is ti okay to use the plastic garbage bag type bags? I'm not sure if it would be the same but I have some with that type of plastic and I really want to make a bag!

Loved the episode - can't wait to try it out! One question though... Where has everyone got their plastic bags from? The only ones we've got are plain white ones with 'Asda' or 'Tescos' on :S I don't think I've ever seen any with smilely faces on or anything like that before!

the guy has gorgeous eyes, the girl has awesome bone structure-so goodie-goodie 4 you 2. oh and whenever i try to iron any bags the plastic shrinks up and gets little holes in it. i don't have a temp setting just a setting based on cloth type...

Great tutorial! Just one question, doesn't wax paper melt onto your iron? I've never fused plastic, but I'd be inclined to try parchment paper instead.

Keeping plastic bags out of landfills and the ocean is great! ...But what about what is being released into the atmosphere when you fuse them together :/

Love the project, makes me want to do one myself. Here a cool idea, if you want to add some splash to your bag, spray paint the bag out of your favorite colors. Then spray a stencil in the front of the bag for a stylish touch.

Thank goodness! finally, that was a very good episode! This is the kind of show that I with they would get back to. Shows used to be like this all the time, but for the last several months (there are a few exceptions) there have been some pretty boring shows. Keep it up!
