i always wanted to make one of these .. never got the chance to and never really saw a good tutorial .. thank you . now i can make my own really cute top for the cruise im goin on!

For a second I thought the knit holder thing wouldnt come off. That would be kind of wierd with that thing hanging around on someones nip all day.

i had to laugh, cuz a couple days after watching this, i saw a black knit bikini top in a magazine... dollars!!!!!! lol i was like...haha i can make my own! ;)

why not use s1, k2tog, psso (and purl version) aka sk2p?  Still a two stitch decrease, and much neater.  I frequently have trouble keeping consistent tension to make a ssk match a k2tog in size.  Instead I s1, k1, psso and usually that comes out a closer match.  Maybe they didn't want to scare beginning knitters?

I was working with the tutorial & I realized there is an error that might frustrate beginners. At 3:50, she is doing a purl row, but she says she is knitting 9 stitches. She's actually purling 9 stitches. Hope that helps someone knit a successful top.

so I've knit this top twice ( after my fingers remembered how to knit & purl ) and I wonder why you have to do the twisty thing when you decrease? I just joined two stitches together both times and it looks the same as when I twisted the stitches. Am I delusional...

i did this project and it turned out wonderful, but i was wondering if anyone had any patterns for recycled materials???

Could you do the straps in knitted I-cord instead of a crocheted chain stitch? Or would that mess with the stability or strength of the entire thing?

Having just made it, I gotta say, I love it. It doesn't quite work for me (C-cup), but I'm sure it's great for some smaller chicks. A nice fun quick knit.

I've always wondered how exactly to do this! Now that I've seen it can be done, I'm making one for myself...only I'll knit on the bottom of the bust to make it a halter. Perhaps when I'm done, I'll post a vid. Thanks guys!!!

if you dont want to go out and buy that needle she used to do the 180 turn for the pearl thing you can just use your crochet hook to turn it.

Okay, so I totally undid it, and I'm re-doing it. This comes with the territory-- like I said, I'm a beginner. So, I figured out why I couldn't double up my yarn. Apparently, knitting needles are not standardized, so I have been using the Canadian "10" needles. I will keep pressing on, and share the finished project once I'm done.

Hey! I LOVE this project! I'm a beginner knitter, and it looks like I've made a mistake-- but it looks cool, so I'm going with it. I've used acrylic yarn, and I didn't double it up to increase the gauge, because it looked like it was going to be gigantic. 

I'm wondering-- for the decrease rows, do you decrease the said amount, or should you adjust the stitches to your size? 

Also, for the D-cup girls, why not take an underwire out of a thrift store bra and tuck it into the bottom stitch? Alternately, the straps can be tightened quite a bit both around your top and around your neck to give you more support. A trick my Gramma used to use while making her knitted bikinis: sew funky-looking fabric into the cup, and you could even line the straps with the material for more support. Happy DIYing! Have to second the acrylic vs. cotton yarn. I think this bikini (which is tres cute for you IBTC ladies) is intended for non-swimming activities, like concerts and the park. If you wanted to swim, you'd definitely need to consider an acrylic yarn over cotton, so things didn't end badly for you, and funny for the people around you. Great video and tutorial, guys. Since I suck at knitting, I'm thinking about trying to change this into a crocheted top.

I second and third the comments about needing to make adjustments for us D-cup girls. That teeny strap doesn't stand a chance (unless that yarn has the tensile strength of steel cable). I'm a knitter (not superskilled, but not a rookie) and i'm going to guess that a wider band underneath the cups would be good, and treble-ing the neck straps would be a good idea. Great tut!

This is a fantastic video! The only comment that I have is: what if you are LARGER, those small straps and cups a woman's "D's" could shred in about 2 minutes? Could you do this video again for women that have "D's" and show how it would fit on them? Let's hear it for the "D's" out there that need some Threadbanger love too!

Two things you might want to actually list: 1. that she's using a longtail cast-on, and you don't have to, and 2. state up front that you should do a guage swatch and shoot for 4 stitches/inch X 5 rows/inch.  Great tute, though.  I can has written pattern?
