Wedding Dress, Threadbanger Projects

I like it, but not too sure it would suit me. And before the haters start in with the "just lose weight" tangent; I'm a size 6 waist, 14 hips and breasts; it's called an hourglass, and it does NOT suit this style! Ask Monroe ;-)

I bought my wedding dress at Macy's. It was a simple white sun dress. . Wish I had seen this tut prior though. I like the simple style. Not so much the material though. Came out nice anyway!

I think it may be able to be adjusted for a larger girl. I probably wouldn't go and buy a bunch of t-shirts for the project, I'd just go and buy some material. It would still be cheaper due to the DIY nature of the design.

For the torso, I'd double the fabric so you have at LEAST two layers of fabric which will help with the see-throughness of the dress and will probably help a little more with the 'seeing of every bump' etc.

This is nice ...awesome tutorial but can anybody teach me how to make a bubble/puffy dress?

LOVE the idea but unfortunately I don't see this working for any one bigger than a toothpick. Being a size 20 I would need 15 size 4X t-shirts...might as well buy the dress LMAO I am still gonna try this just to make a dress and say I made it :)

I love this idea! I bought my first wedding dress for  at a little bridal boutique's sidewalk sale one day and altered it to make it strapless. But this dress I may have to play with idea a bit and make some cute summer dresses for DD and myself! Thanks for the awesome tutorial!!!

If I wanted to make this out of another type of fabric, what kind could I use and how much would I need?

This was great! I can't wait to make one for my teen as an outfit for a white party. Hey how would you go about tacking and sewing the bands on?

I've been totally streessn out abt my dress pick i think i might make this dress and c how i look  and keep our wedding co2 foot print low:.

I wonder if you could use this as a base, then spice it up with some bridal lace?  Either as accents or as overlay...  I wonder how complex that would be... might be worth a try :)

I have to agree with Tiger on this one: What about us bigger girls?  I tried to make a stapless shirt using this same idea yesterday and halfway through the project I realized that you used about the skinniest model possible and this DOES NOT WORK on bigger girls!  You know, with all the bad body images out there for brides I thought Threadbanger would do a better job being sensitive about that.  Every girl you see modeling wedding dresses is super skinny.  I wish for once we plus-size ladies could catch a break, you know?  We wanna look, unique, indie and beautiful too.

i just made my own dress. so easy with this tutorial, though i dyed my fabric purple...still, it's a nice thing to wear for special events~

Loverrrrly!  Not only is it in my price range, but it seems simple to make.  It would be ooooooh so comfortable for Memphis hot and humid summers.

Very inspiring video! Turning 2 men's t-shirts in a wedding dress. You have to see it to believe it...I'm impressed.

How does using t-shirts help the environment when you could have bought the fabric for less on sale with a coupon?  Second, this does nothing for women with bigger breast.

hey, quick question. if you have a body form, do you really need a pattern, or could you do what they did in this episode. i've never really made my own clothes before, but i'd like to start, and i don't understand how to make your own pattern. and i looked at the tutorial in the blog. could someone please help me understand how.

If there is a day you can splurge a little bit on what you wear is your wedding. I'd like to sew my own wedding gown but a tie on dress made with t-shirts wouldn´t make feel confortable at all. It´s your special day! spend over 30 dollars even if it's for once in your life.

This is prettier than i expected from t-shirts. But still... I am designing my own wedding dress and I don't know how comfortable I would feel in T-shirts. What if they end up being see-through O_O. Anyways I thought this might also be nice to use some knit fabric similar to t-shirts but still a little bit nicer. this is my absolute hands down favorite threadbanger episode.  the dress took my breath away and even my 14 year old daughter was impressed (tough to do).  i am very into the generation T thing and recon.  corrine, can we make more recons that are more modest in nature (like this one).  and stuff that cover the top for people with boobs, please.

I swear somedays I think the Wedding industry should be regulated.  Or we should teach these bridezillas that its really just the party that they are interested in.  Instead of over the top weddings they should just host regular parties with some tips fro Meg and Decor it Yourself.  Sure regular parties won't be all about the host as it isn't "her day" but she would be lavished with attention for the most part and she doesn't even have to commit to someone, who she might divorce in a few years because they weren't even compatable.

Good Job. I've made a lot of wedding dresses, price range from .00 to about .00. That one was very full with a double layer skirt. You don't have to spend a lot to have a nice wedding. But remember, if you're not willing to marry the guy in jeans with no one you know around, you probably shouldn't get married. If the wedding is more important than the marraige, call it off.

This turned out a lot better than I thought it would. When I saw it, I honestly thought, 'Come on, thread banger, a DIY wedding dress for 10 dollars?'

I'm just wondering what you meant by the 'carbon footprint'. Do you mean that it's made out of old T-shirts that you have worn before? I wonder if people would really use old tees or just buy some cheap new ones, seeing old T-shirts often have stains and the chances are low you have 6 identical XL shirts.

Love the simple design though, and totally worth buying 6 organic tees ;)

That's really cute. Before you cut the piece of the back when you pined it. I would have left it there and put the zipper in the from. The wrap around piece would have covered it.  Anyways cute idea.

That turned out great!! Hmmmmm, I'm tempted to make a shorter version of this in color.  Maybe add some straps, too.  Strapless and me don't really mix.
