Sexy Summer Halter, Threadbanger Projects

this worked out amazing i made 2!!! i love this!

This completely failed for me. I used the measurements as she specified and the back is too short and the neck piece sticks up on top. What a waste of a shirt.

I screwed up a good lynyrd skynyrd tee doing this the first time... 

I sewed the sleeve up on the left hand side before I cut anything. That way, when it came time to cut across the top to 'just under the sleeve', I guess-timated a little higher than that so that the neck wouldn't be so baggy. 

Also, the part where she says to 'measure 4" in from the right hand side' to create the arc that becomes the open back, I measured about 5.5" to make it a little more comfortable around the armpit area.

Goodbye lynyrd skynyrd... at least I still have the Who and AC/DC!

How did you make that shirt on your body form?

I am a more advanced sewer and I tried this with an old baseball tee. I am somewhat confused and disappointed because I followed Megan's instructions exactly and my shirt did not work at all. I was frustrated that she assumes her measurements will work for anyone. i am very curvy and have a large bust. the waist measurement divided by two she said to use at the beginning was wider than the width of my shirt. I measured 22 inches across instead of the 25, her method suggested I needed. The shirt is still baggy at the bottom and the plunge neckline, I used her vertical measurement, hangs below my belly button. Can we get some t-shirt that don't end up looking trashy on large busty women? recons

the neckline was way too low for me so I cut a slit down the front and tie a knot in the front to make a nice gathering detail in the front. I'm either going to add this top to a pair of pants I made to make a romper or make a skirt and make it into a dress.

im taking this tutariol and making a dress out of it i think it would be aweome!

i tried it and I'm tiny. i guess that this particular one takes a little experimenting.

Did any larger ppl do this? I tried and had to make the back arch larger but it still didn't hang right and was uncomfortable pulling at my neck and riding high on my back and also I had to pull it together in the front stretching the material. Turning it around and putting the back in front worked better but the seam was then in the front and the cowl was in the back. I know I can reverse the pattern and put the seam in the back, but I would like it if the cowl hung in the front. Any suggestions?

I attempted to make this cowl though I found it to fit nicely in the back the front was dipping to my belly button. I'll be trying again and making the top cut for the cowl a little higher up on the t-shirt. Sexy Halter Take 2!  Thanks for all the great t-shirt projects!

I love all these t-shirt recons! I wonder what did Megan do with the other part of the t-shirt...

The scarf is quite easy to make. 
-Cut a t-shirt right below the armpits and cut one side open to make a rectangle.
-Cut the fringe along the rectangle (the length is up to you)
-Give them a little tug and they automatically get into that tube shape.
-Wrap it around, hold it with a beautiful pin and you are done!

At least that's the way I do it...(I sew the top edge to have a better looking scarf)

Loved this episode.  Way to stick it to those pro-mass commercialism ads by adding those scary statistics.  I used to live near a cotton field, and those chemicals made it into our well water resulting in undrinkable water.  Thank for the great episodes, and don't let people get you down!

Interesting that you mentioned how many lbs of chemicals are used in growing cotton....that's exactly what I was thinking about when I was watching the 2 cotton commercials during previous episode. You guys should really think about your advertisers a little more closely.

I love these t shirt  recons! Me and my friend Lori are gathering old tees from are closets and buying thrift store ones to make outfits from her first book. We are going to make outfits together since it isn't fun doing stuff by yourself.Though we still have to buy the book. The public library has it but we've been getting complaints from the librarians about checking out the book too much that other people want to read it. I'm so going to have to show this episode to my friend since she doesn't have a computer. This looks like an absolute must to make since its so sexy looking and it looks quite easy to make. I also found the end statistics interesting. I didn't know that pesticides were used to make a tee shirt.
