How-to Make a Tie, Back to School, Threadbanger Projects

I cannot locate the pattern for the tie. Your video states that I can download it from this website. Can you please send me the pattern link or explain how I can find it so that I can print it out.

okay, this may sound silly but i've downloaded the tie pattern and when i print it out it's MUCH smaller than what it should be!  is there a way that you could post measurements: length from one end to the other, width on the ends, length & width for the tippings, etc..  from there i should be able to figure it out!  thanks!

haha ties remind me of all the guys at my school cuz if theyre in boys life skills mr.macleod makes them wear ties to school :D its hilarious also some of them dont know how to tie it

i do have to wear a uniform at my school.. I don't have it as bad with the ties and the plaid or the knee socks. I have to wear a red white or blue polo top with black, tan or navy pants. But do you know what makes me mad is that people wear black skinny jeans and don't get caught or the people that wear navy sweat pants. Thank goodness I only have one more year there. Next year in high school I can wear anything!!!!!

i have a request for you guys... I'm trying to make a tutu for this youth group thing my friends and i go to. (it's about 10 times cooler than any youth group you'll ever go to :D) but i can't find a tutorial that tells me how much tulle i need! it would be great if you could do a tutu episode. 
i know that doesn't really relate to back to school, but maybe it could be a halloween thing. i've seen a lot of questions about tutus on threadbanger, so i think a lot of people would enjoy it!

ugh i hate my school!! we cant wear hats, we can only wear undershirts that are either the same color as our shirt or white, we cant wear any jackets outside of their crappy made ones and they bug us about  hair all the time. the boys cant wear their hair longer than 4 inches. and a long time ago girls couldnt wear their hair shorter than 7 inches. my dad makes me go back to this school cuz its a "higher education" just let me go to public school and ill skip 2 grades!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been making ties for my men folk for a few years now (at Easter) and I'll say this...IRONING is key...DON"T get sloppy or it won't turn out.  and I LOVE the tshirt button down layerd look with the tie

she was the inspiration from then on for me to stand out fashionwise :) and an added plus the student who made her the skirt became my close friend and fellow DYI-er for life :)

I could have used this before the Harry Potter and the Half Blood prince movie release. Oh well, I like how the tie I made came out anyway. :)

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!! ive been searching for a tie pattern and tut for my dad, i dont go to school anymore, but he does go to work and it happes to be his birthday very soon!!! THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU. handy tip: i dony know i its the same for everyone, but when i turned up to a brand new school, everyone laughed at me because i still had the buttons on my blazer... so be prepared and take a pair of scissors... just incase :). Oooh, uniforms. I always wished my school had a uniform policy because it would have been way better than the RIDICULOUS dress code policy we had. Couldn't wear anything 'camouflage' because we might conceal weapons (I am so serious) and we couldn't wear hoodies because we could 'conceal our identities' and they needed to know who was in the hallways at all times. We even had to go through a metal detector when we entered the building so anything metal on our clothes was a MAJOR problem! Luckily I didn't have to deal with that stupid system long, they implemented it in semester before I graduated. Now I'm in college and I can wear whatever I want but I still feel like I don't stand out a lot ): I suppose it's my 'necessity over fashion' attitude; if I'm not comfortable I won't wear it. Blah. I wish I could figure out how to tie a tie, then I would wear one! I've tried to many times but I can't get it down.

I would say jewelry and backpacks are a good way of expression for private school kids. If you wear a polo shirt as part of the uniform then wear a t-shirt under the polo shirt. So you can take it off after school.

I can't wait to make a super-colorful tie to wear with my uniforms. :D
I always spruce up my uniforms, though. Because it's uniformity of color, I can get away with making cute skirts with crazy buttons and whatnot. :)

Ahh...back to school...I miss school now.  Oddly at my work you feel like you're back in high school because of all the drama and uniforms.  Meanwhile, I would have loved to rock those Catholic school girl type uniforms back in the day.  But down South, kids have to wear black, blue or khaki pants, polo shirts with no more than three buttons and only in so many colors.  And teachers would jump all over you if you try to deviate from the norm.  Yuck.  Hate uniforms.  Maybe that's why I hate my current job.  Reminds me too much of high school.  If I can find a job that reminds me more of my college years, I'll be alright.

I'll definitely be checking into the messenger bag tuts on the forums. I start the first day of the last yr of college on the 30th! (excited...but so close to entering the real world) 

A few quick stories of my HS life.
When I was in high school I would basically wear basketball shorts all the time and draw and write all over my legs. I'd also have my friends help me out and draw too. I was my own mobile canvas! Oh, I was a weird kid :) 
Also, I totally rocked the 80's teased hair/gaudy earrings and sorts in HS. 
Best advice I could give is dress how you feel most comfortable as yourself.

One size smaller! YAY and make sure to leave AT LEAST 3 buttons undone for a good amount of cleavage!  I also second the high heel idea, the heels should be coupled with a matching thong, and a pencil for dropping. HUZZAH!

oh snap i made a vest out of that same plaid fabric! which is what im going to wear on the first day of school XD
