If making a baby blanket out of shirts, maybe looking for a flannel shirt is even better, as it is soft and cozy. I would also consider not removing the buttons, but sewing them on real securely with heavy thread, then give the blanket a hem at the top, with a drawstring in it (and stoppers?). Then the blanket can be used as a cape for a little one, to keep cosy and warm in the evening, just button it up and pull the string to fit around the neck...

While the blanket is a wonderful idea, buttons can be a choking hazard. Please remove the buttons or cut off the fabric before them.

I donated . My grandparents have been to Haiti a few times, so I've heard what it was like there before the earthquake. It's cool to see people around the world coming together to help fellow humans out. Corinne, thanks for sharing your passion for Haiti. It's inspiring.

Thank you so much everyone, My friends in Haiti have been sleeping on the streets every night and pouring into Fonds Parisien. I just got news that the man we stayed with in Fonds has his house miraculously untouched and I was able to get a hold of him and one of his interpreters to tell him what you all are doing. His sends his thanks and his love. Thank you so much, from one of our Haitian friends.

I am really passionate about helping the US! Can't give much, but I'm donating blood next week as well. It's a great way to help, and it's free! The Red Cross website has a ton of listings for all of the blood drives across the US. The website is www.redcross.org

So I'm going to make some. I have tons of old shirts and clothes and fabric and such that I'm probably not going to use any time soon that I can make into easy blankets like this.

Just one note about the baby blanket tutorial: perhaps it might be best to cut off the buttons instead of incorporating them into the blanket design; aren't they a choking hazard?

I think I can do one better, I can make a baby blanket out of t-shirts. Something new for the cause. Maybe there should be a theme for Threadbangers which can be making projects to send with Corinne to Haiti. Theme should be title "Crafting for a Cause".

Corine I paused your video went off and donated my dollar and then treated myself to Brooksie's tutorial.  Just wanted to let you know, the number you gave of people who watched Treadbanger really brought it home.  That's A LOT of cash, everyone should donate one dollar it's so easy...  and that site accepts paypal, which is fabulous.

nothing like a cause to get one crafting again!!!  and I Sent my $$ (well 2 - wish I could do more - but what other $ I have can go to things to send as we have donated $ to other collections like church/school).

It's good that threadbanger is getting involved! Every little bit helps! I donated through the local radio station that had a Haiti Relief Program at the mall! They ended up collecting a bundle for Haiti!

This is so important and we can all spare at least a dollar.
