Just want to say thanks to all for the kind comments! ThreadBanger rocks and Corrine is a groovy cutie ;)
Since making this video I was approached (begged!) to make these for others - in partnership with web marketer Kendi Kovar we've advance this kufi cap and made them available to the public at KendisKustoms.com! - As we say, "Neil Peart should look so good!" LOL! My musical world insight and web expertise along with Kendi's design, marketing and management skills have proven a modest success! Thanks to our customers' kudos and thanks again to all youz guys. The kufi "welded build" technique or basically being hot glued has proven to hold up under normal conditions (I have caps 3 years old now), the kufi caps can be washed cold/cold and low machine or air dried, but mild detergent spot cleaning is best - we recommend Grand Ma's Secrete Spot Remover for bad stains and muck. We've had many folks buy them to decor themselves with some spectacular results. Kendi and I are working on a sewn version, trying best to maintain the style and design, and hope to make them available in 2012.
Craig,
Out of all the DIY contestant videos Ive seen, I think yours is defiantly the best because it had a great introduction with you drumming with great music. You showed us what a Kufi hat was and gave us ideas on different styles you can use and the matierials we would need and your directions were very clear and precise. The view from the camera was also very clear. Gave us great alternative to a device that many of us probably don't have. Didn't talk too long in the introduction or in conclusion too long and got straight to the point. You defianly have my vote. I hope you win.
I love this. I've always considered hot glue to be the 'guerrilla' alternative to sewing, but this method seems to work really well especially if you can wear it underneath the hot lights during a gig.
Rock on Craig. I love the drum kit.
I like the tip of using an iron in conjunction with the hot glue, to spread it out and make sure it all sticks really well when gluing larger sections- very clever!
