Bleached Skinny Jeans, ThreadBanger Projects

i'm 13 and i tried this on a size 8 jeans and they turned out amazing!!!! my friends are gonna be SOOO jealous!! lololol love the thread heads!! to bad they stopped making DIY tutorials T_T

I totally went over board but i bleached like half of my jeans and they turned out amazing thanks for the great idea :D

Should the jeans be wet or dry when applying the bleach? I've tried but they just wont change colour, but then they were pretty wet when I applied the bleach. How long does it usually take for some jeansshorts to get that colour?

I had to take the butt on my pants in a lot and now the pockets are almost touching. It looks so funny.

when bleach treating anything it's also a good idea to stop the bleaching action by rinsing in an acidic solution -like water with white vinegar-  before washing.

heyy...i'm new here. and i just wanna ask if i can use my normal jeans? i mean, so that i won't sew anymore? thanks very much...

This is kind of off topic but is there and easier and cheaper way to make a kimono than buying a  pattern and going from there?

My mama taught me an easier way to make skinny jeans and to take in the waist of jeans and it makes your booty rock.

To take in the waist: take two darts in the center of the pockets. Stitch and done.

Then turn the jean inside out and put them on.  Have a friend pin the side up the outside of the jeans from the ankle to the knee (or approach the hip when the jean are too FAT in the hips),  Take them off and stitch along the pins.

Voila... easy, no ripping, and double seaming to get to looking fabulous!!

ok herees my deal, i have a pair of jeans that fit me great in the waist and in the length! but they are too baggy and i want to make them slimmer where should i start? should i start at 1:06 or do i have to seam rip the jeans?

For the jeans, did you use just normal bleach?

I got a long denim skirt from Salvation Army and i bleached it into a flipping awesome looking skirt. I saw jeans in a magazine that looked exactly like yours Corinne, and they were worth AUS 0!!

Could you do a tutorial on how to make dresses??? Specifically, dresses that look good on heavier girls?? Would be greatly appreciated!! :D

would you recommend using a serger at all? I know you use the shears and a sturdy stich but what stich is it? I'm using my great grandmas sewing machine from the 70's so all the stiches are not listed like that. and i love the tute I've been going crazy trying to figure out the best way to  take in jeans due to the waist band.

I would really love an episode that focuses on making-our-own patterns!! Of things that may not be pre-existing... (like perhaps bodice patterns..)  I honestly have one dress that fits me REALLY well, and because of the detailing around the top I cannot take it apart without ruining the dress completely. I think this would be a GREAT skill to have and would be useful to the guys as well as the girls! Anyway, Thanks! And great work!

Just thought I would let everyone know that you can use a vinegar and water solution to stop the bleaching process.  That way you can stop bleaching when you get your desired effect and you will not go to far and get holes.  FYI>

Man you guys rock!! I just brought a pair of men's carpenter jeans for work and they are too baggy for me especially in the crotch area. How to make comfy shorts for the summer.

Are you sure spraying bleach is actually a good idea?  Seriously, you should always work in a well ventilated area, cover your skin (as you do, but you didn't say that), and be very careful.  You do NOT want to breathe this stuff in.  Spraying it also increases the likelyhood of blowback (meaning, you'd get it not only on the clothing you're bleaching but on the clothing you're wearing... and your skin...  and everything else...)

A good alternative for making designs is to use Soft Scrub.  It's a gel, so you can work with it (paint with it, etc) and not worry about spraying it.

Also, if you don't use some sort of bleach stop (like Bleach Stop found on Dharmatrading.com) the bleach will continue to deteriorate your fabric... even if you rinse and wash.  

Dharma has other awesome stuff for making thickened bleach that you can paint and print with...

BTW-- this process is called Discharge Dyeing by those in the know.

Woah I love the idea for this project. Whenever I tighten jeans I just resew the bottom part, but seamripping the  whole inside seam and redoing it looks like a much neater finish... thanks for the idea!! And how do you do the bottom, just fold it twice and sew a straight stitch all the way around? Good stuff guys!! ps- Corrine you are looking amaaazing... ok you to Rob!
