PLEASE HELP!!!!! my resin has harden and I can't get them out of the ice cube trays! is there another way or do i just need to break it?

Just a rew extra tips....When you cast your polyester resin, you will absolutely want to protect yourself by wearing a respirator and safty glasses. Next, when you want to imbed an image (either something from a magazine, or something off your printer, you can use photo paper or you can coat it with Modge Podge to prevent the image from either bleeding or becoming translucent. If you want the image to appear as though it is ontop of the resin, you can add it about 10 mins. after your first pour. If you are imbedding an object and want the appearance that it is floating in the resin, wait 24 hours after the 1st pour to add it. If you don't, it will sink to the bottom. Additionally, Jen adds some spray lacquer to the back of the pendants because they were not fully set and remained slightly tacky on the back. In order to avoid this, you can either put a layer of plastic wrap over the ice cube tray while the resin sets for it's final 24 hour period (make sure the wrap does not come in contact with the resin) or, after you have removed the objects (if you have used a mold where the resin sits on top, like a chocolate mold, and cannot use the plastic wrap because it will contact the resin) you can place the pieces in a sealed container for an additional 24 to 48 hours. The reason the resin remains tacky is because it is open to air. Air will not allow the resin to cure completely (some use a vacuum chamber to eliminate this problem). And finally, to avoid air bubbles, use a hair dryer on a low air, high heat setting and warm the bottom of the mold. This will release the air in the resin and force it to the surface. There are many cool things you can do with resin. If you use a rubber mold, you can even paint the surface of the mold with acrylic paint and the resin will lift the image! Have fun and be safe!!

will this work with other things instead of ice cude trays? like candy and soup molds?

Does the resin and stuff have to be used once opened, since it hardens? Like it can't be covered by its cap again.

you didnt tell how long to leave the first coat of resin for it to congeal. i can tell its the same day but is it minutes? hours? what? how would i know when to put the pics in?

What about how to make the ring? :o(

I wonder if you could ad a jumper ring or something on the back while the resin is drying to create a button or something. I don't have a Dremel, so Im brainstorming other ways of attachment methods.. Hmmmmm.....

awesome tut!! ive tryed resin casting before, but i used magazine images, and they turned out all dark. can u not use magazine images because they are too thin? maybe bc i didnt layer the resin?
